Bridgeport…home of coots, cheating husbands, and HOA tyranny
Written by Jeff on February 12th, 2008The wealthy lake-side enclave in Valencia has more plot twists and intrigue than an episode of Desperate Housewives, at least according to a search on RottenNeighbor.com.
Everyone has a neighbor or two they don’t care for. Most of us just grin and bear it, acknowledging that all kinds of people call Santa Clarita home.
But in the age of the internet, one doesn’t have to tolerate terrible neighbors anymore. That’s what RottenNeighbor.com is all about- it’s a mash up website that overlays user-submitted good and bad neighbor information on top of a Google map of the SCV.
Of all the places in Santa Clarita -from the near-barrios of Newhall to the windswept hills of Canyon Country to the treeless new developments on the west side - where would you guess neighborly discontent calls home?
There’s bad neighbor reports all around the SCV, but the greatest concentration surprisingly seems to be in Bridgeport, where at least five residents have posted rotten neighbor “reports” accusing their neighbors of infedelity, fraud, egomania, HOA shenanigans, and speeding, among other things.
In Bridgeport, it’s not just the coots that have people in an uproar. Check out some of the complaints:
This family has no respect! They drive way too fast for our neighborhood and almost ran my child and I over! The local court also issued a restraining order against their son for threatening one of our neighbors.
says Blondie91355, a resident of Waterside court.
It gets better. One neighbor is upset that the sound of barking dogs carries across the lake:
This seemingly “nice” family is so inconsiderate to leave their abandoned and neglected dogs in their backyard to bark insisantly over a weekend while they have a restful vacation out of town. HOW RUDE! They have even verbalized their disregard for everyones peace and quiet by saying, “Well.. they are dogs and that what they do.”
But barking dogs and speeding neighbors aren’t the only villains in Bridgeport life. Apparently, there’s a lot of HOA intrigue in the New England-esque development:
Never mind that she parks in front of the hydrant, has her basketball hoop up ,feeds the ducks, and lets her dog deficate on our block without picking it up. but her and her HOA board cronies cite us for rhe stupidist infractions! watch out for the mom she is a rat!
Some anonymous complainers even name names:
While HOA President Mr. Name Withheld was commanding his reign of terror , he got busted cheating on his wife and was thrown out of his house forcing him to resign from the board. In a scene right out of WACO Mr. Withheld had armed guards take over a residents property claiming it was the HOA’s. He was later sued for his actions and the HOA had to pay out
Yowza! Where was The Signal on that one?
Here’s another one I vaguely recall in local news.
This person was HOA President for the Bridgeport Community Association, who was responsible for issuing over 3,200 anonymous flyer’s, including an Internet website www.bridgeporthoa.com, which attacked other homeowners in the community. A Defamation lawsuit was filed against her and the Association, costing the community over $350,000.00 in Attorney’s fees & Settlement. This person sued the City of Santa Clarita for “Gender Bias” collecting over $140,000.00 in Settlement, and then turned around and tried to run for City Counsel. Thankfully, the City’s review committee recognized her misdeeds, and rendered a decision of “Zero” votes.
Not all residents of Bridgeport are upset with their neighbors, though the good outweigh the bad 5-3.
Though the website makes for some good entertainment at the expense of rich folks living in coot-poop filled Bridgeport, it is a bit creepy and unnerving to realize any of us could end up on it. Thankfully, the site allows you to flag objectionable posts which may result in their removal.

I love it! This could be lots of fun. I can’t decide who to rat out. Should it be “loud talker” who likes to take phone calls outside on her back patio at 7am on a Saturday? Or maybe the teenager who races through the complex on his obnoxious motorized scooter? Or how about the board member who breaks just about every rule the association has in place and the management company turns a blind eye (remember that 40 foot RV)? I’m practically giddy just thinking about ratting out someone. Kidding. I will be good and refrain. Although, I guess I did kind of rat them out right here.

I feel bad that no one has posted any nastiness about The Summit. As yet.

Bridgeport Lawn Rules. We just moved in. Month 1 we received a $50.00 fine for our lawn. We received no warning. We spoke with a neighbor, and he routinely gets warnings? I called Valencia Management Group and checked them out online.
There might be too much education, is that possible?
