“Franken Ferry” Video posted on YouTube

Written by Jeff on March 24th, 2008

An anonymous YouTuber who’s account was created just in the last few days has posted a humorous albeit mean video of Councilmember Frank Ferry during some of his….finer moments.

The video, posted today by YouTube user “Not a Ferry Fan,” focuses mostly on Ferry’s stated goal of relieving traffic in the SCV and his outspoken support of the Hospital’s expansion plan during last summer’s Council meetings.

The video has amatuer production values and at one-point superimposes an X-Ray of Homer Simpson’s head over Frank Ferry as Ferry goes off on what the hospital expansion plan is really about (brains).

Later on, Frank Ferry talks more about the hospital as text of the Henry Mayo Hospital/G&L Realty Development Agreement scrolls by, particularly the section that does not require G&L & Henry Mayo to construct a new inpatient building.

The clips also show the volcanic side of Frank Ferry’s personality during City Council meetings.

In one segment, he gesticulates wildly and shouts at the aerial map of the hospital site and the McBean/Orchard Village Road intersection.

The producer then flashes “MELTDOWN ALERT” several times in red as Ferry continues his emotional rant.

Other segments of the video show the infamous “collusion” allegation leveled by Councilmember TimBen Boydston last summer as emails between City Planning staff and consultant Jeff Lambert surfaced. Earlier in the video, Councilmember Ferry reacts to that by telling Boydston “I was elected. You weren’t even elected.”

The video also shows people, including Dr. Gene Dorio and Mayo CEO Roger Seaver, speaking before the City Council at various meetings last year.

The last segment of the video zooms in on a recent campaign mailer -paid for by the Frank Ferry Committee- that encouraged voters to vote for Councilmember Bob Kellar and Candidate Laurie Ender for City Council.

Ferry acknowledged last week that he may have broken the law by paying for that mailer.

Speaking of “smells”, this has the odor of a “Bruce McFarland” Production. Remember what Pete Townsend said, ” . . meet the new boss, same as the old boss.” Don’t be fooled, Mr. McFarland is as much part of a “good ole boy” network as is Frank Ferry, it’s just a rose of a different color. And his network will stop at nothing, including highly personal attacks and misinformation to carry out its agenda. This is a prime example.

And Bruce will post here crying “Don’t look at me, I didn’t do this.” Yeah right Bruce . . it’s called plausible denial. Everyone is onto your game except the few sheep who follow you blindly. By the way, how’s your website doing?

Sorry, Politico, I sent out the press release and link for this video - while I did not produce or post the video, I delivered the release with my real name as I am doing here.

I can assure you that Bruce McFarland had nothing to do with this. And before we digress down the “partisan politics” thread, as I’ve stated here many times before, I am a Republican who supports and understands the need for growth - Smart Growth.

And should you be inclined to go with the “selfish NIMBY” argument, look at the MANY faces in the video from neighborhoods all around SCV. Our taxpayer paid city staff is supposed to present development proposals with neutrality and truth. Our council is supposed to represent the community by upholding the planning laws that protect us. Instead, as a whole, both groups accept slipshod arguments and let facts that ruin our communities to slip by without comment. THAT, Politico, is “the network”; a cozy relationship based on favors where we ignore the facts, due diligence, and oversight. We like to call it “business friendly” but, in the end, we’re all poorer for it.

And before you tell me that the G&L/Henry Mayo office expansion has been under review for three years receiving “due diligence”, in actuality, it took TWO YEARS before the staff acknowledged that no hospital building was even included in the plan! Why? It took 1.5 years of public outcry and tireless questioning From Boydston to drag this out – where’s staff? Blowing off the math and pushing their agenda for approval. Meanwhile they lead everyone to believe that the public has dragged this on forever. Shame on them.

Frankly, our city staff and council members like Ferry are not doing their job – at all. Words like “NIMBY” and “partisan” are smokescreens attempting to neutralize the people who are tired of this but the liars are outnumbered on this one.

It’s pretty clear to everyone who’s looked at the hospital plan and so many other “fuzzy math” methods for planning approvals. Unless, of course, you’re being paid to look the other way — are you?

Do you believe McFarland put the words spoke by Frank, in Frank’s mouth. If you have not taken the time to see Frank in action, you what to do that. He clearly lacks the ability to consider the issues facing the council as a critical thinker.

Like many on the council, if the business community likes it, and the city manager likes it, Frank Ferry likes it. No intelligent questions asked!

Here is (planning commissioner) Bill Kennedy’s reason for why we should vote for Kellar. From the Signal today. BTW Kellar was the council member that nominated Kennedy to the planning commission. Yes, the good ole boy network is alive and well.

    Bill wrote:
“He [Kellar]stands tall as a supporter of local business and is a strong advocate of economic development in the community. Bob clearly does the work of, and is in touch with, the people of Santa Clarita as indicated in every major public and private poll, where he consistently earns top votes for the individual people would most like to have as mayor.”

The question would be, are the good ole boys making sure Kellar stays in office? More everyday people need to get out and vote, otherwise the VIA, Chamber members and other special interests will sway the vote.
We will continue to have more dumb growth and no new roads.

Well, I have to take my hat off my hairless head and give credit to David Gauny for the fact that he and His group “Smart Growth” have done more work to uncover and correct the shady dealings of G&L then all the city staff/council combined. Of course with the aid of critical thinking and uncommon sense from TimBen we now know how G&L was going for pure profit over town and neighborhood wellbeing. Profit doesn’t include quality of life in decade+ old neighborhoods I guess.

I think Smart Growth has redeveloped the rules for the principle of “highest and best use” when developing in residential areas. Perhaps our city building codes should be amended with our new understanding of what is socially acceptable. After all isn’t that how codes are developed? To the edge of what the people will except? After all this scrutiny and corporate tricks by G&L perhaps it’s time to re-access those codes.

It was alarming how many things were overlooked or attempted to be pushed through without going through the proper channels and rules. I was disgusted at G&L the Hospital and those who wanted to rubber stamp the project. If G&L get away with their games I will make sure it’s the last time a developer gets the same chance again. Keep it up Gauny.

Question for you cash, where would you build a new road?

Not many opportunities left to build the roads. One very good reason that building more homes needs to be reconsidered. Building a bridge across the river may help, but I doubt it will help much. Especially after Lennar completes building out the development along the route. The proposed Golden Valley connection to Magic Mountain Mountain may help, but is many many years out.
At this point in time it is difficult to see how the City will be able to pay for any new roads.

    Kellar said
“Based on the information presented to me, it is clear that I will need to amend the forms and have begun to do so. I plan to submit my amended forms to the Santa Clarita City Clerk by Tuesday, March 25th”.

Well it is Tuesday Mr. Kellar.
