Conversations : Bob Spierer Interview
Written by Jeff on March 29th, 2008Yesterday, I interviewed Bob Spierer, a retired Sheriff’s Chief who’s running for City Council.
We talked about annexation, crime statistics, major crime in the SCV, Newhall Redevelopment, the hospital expansion and a few other topics.
The interview runs about 49 minutes.
Since the interview ran a little long, I didn’t get a chance to ask Spierer another question I had on my list, but he was willing to answer it after the interview was over.
I asked Spierer for his position on transparency and openness in government. In particular, I asked him, “Would you support an ethics program?”
“Absolutely. I think it’s a shame that they haven’t done that before,” Spierer replied.
He then spoke a bit about Councilmember Boydston after I mentioned that Boydston had advocated an ethics program for City Hall and the City Council.
“I had told TimBen that I disagreed with a number of things he’s done because of the way he’s done them. But I don’t disagree with his desire to go out and learn the truth and find out more rather than just rubber stamping things. I respect the fact that he’s taken the time to learn the issues,” Spierer said.
“But I do have my differences with him on his methods,” he concluded.
On a side note, if you want to hear more from Spierer, KHTS’ Jon Dell also interviewed Spierer on Thursday and has posted an audio file as well. You can download the file here.

Had to clean my rain gutters, to busy to listen.
TimBen’s out in the open style is what we need.

I too like the fact that TimBen kept this Council on their toes. The citizens should be aware of the nonsense that is going on.
P.S. Jeff, as administration, I can’t find where to change my password to something I can remember. So every time I log in, I have to reset my password. Can you give me a clue?
