To the 83%

Roses are Red
Violets are blue
I voted in the election
why didn’t you?

Are you too busy
with a life full of fun
to contribute your vote
on the way the city’s run?

Or perhaps you’re just lazy
and don’t give a damn
about who’s in charge
of this chunk of land

Maybe you’re just ignorant
and think life is good
so why should you bother
getting involved in your ‘hood

Soldiers, sailors and marines
died for this right
that you let others decide
gives me a fright

Many words come to mind
when I think about you
Apathetic, lazy, selfish, and boring
should give you a clue

Now the election is over
we have the final tally
And we, not you, made the choice
on who runs this valley

A Haiku to The 83%

All you say is who?

    Effective voting:
    machines read thoughts
    of the silent majority

Very well said, for all the good it will do
but thats alright for the educated few
It gives us more power over our home
but sometimes we feel so very alone.
When things go wrong You won’t be quoted
because you stayed at home when you should have VOTED!

    I liked yours better Jeff
