No Brief today either

Written by Jeff on July 3rd, 2008

Bad jeff, bad! So lazy. Sorry. Happy 4th of July. I’ll write again this weekend; Daily Brief will return Monday morning.

I’m not happy about this. Reading the Daily Brief is part of my morning routine. As a matter of fact, you need to start doing a Saturday and Sunday Daily Brief. ;)

I second KLB. If you want to GROW your visitors, you need to be consistent with your daily briefs. You want people to be able to count on your local news and comments each and every day. I come from the advertising side and often heard unfounded complaints about journalists being lazy. I have never believed that - generally speaking most I know work hard, could work harder but they work EVERY DAY. You do a fine job - just do it!

Brief or not, I’ll still react:

“Fourth of July parade lineup unveiled”
No Frank Ferry. Maybe he’ll be at the Acton parade with the newly crowned Rodeo Queen

“Transformer fire shuts down Sierra Highway”
Bumblebee should use greater discretion and take his Decepticon melees elsewhere.

    “No felony for ex-counselor”
Of all the sex-offending Hart employees/quasi-employees, she may end up looking like the wholesome one.

    “Burned body found by car”
This is a really strange story. I want to see where this leads.

“More traffic irks The Master’s College neighbors”
Placertia Canyon people like the idea, presumably because it further removes traffic from its most logical route, Placerita Canyon. I feel bad for the people on Dockweiller, but if you look at a map, it would seem to be just a matter of time before it’s a major street.

“Residents tell what they want from new library”
I’m still convinced the library is a relic of the past, but I’m curious to see what a library with modern sensibilities would look like.

As much as the brief is my daily routine also I find it amazing that Jeff finds the time and has the clarity to do what he does here. I understand he has a 40 hour a week job as well a personal life with his wife. How he contributes to local news and takes the time for it is beyond me. I fully support Jeff taking time off from this maze of website responsibilities. Everyone needs to take time off including Jeff.

After all, SCV isn’t always that interesting so I’m grateful for what we do get. When I freely consume his hard work for free I guess the pay back is having an understanding for his time off.

    Jeff:

Your Daily Brief is a highlight during my (sometimes) hectic day! I appreciate the time and energy you put into MY enjoyment! Thank you and if you want to be tired on occasion, by all means DO!!! You deserve a day or two off……without pay!
