  • Mayo Expansion essentially approved, next steps: After four and a half years, thousands of pages of documents, a half-dozen council meetings, and seemingly-endless testimony on the part of detractors and boosters, the City Council approved Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial and G&L Realty’s 340,000 sq. ft. expansion plans for the 35 year old hospital campus in Valencia. The approval came after what the Signal called an “11th hour” deal between foes and proponents fell through, a deal which I Heart SCV says was being worked on by the parties during the Council Meeting. The blockbuster meeting lasted seven hours and was dramatic at times, with Mayor Bob Kellar (the only no vote) accusing Beverly Hills based G&L Realty of buying Santa Clarita’s April City Council election and inferring that the expansion was a bad project. Technically, the City adopted a resolution certifying Mayo’s EIR and allowing “significant impacts;” a second reading will occur on December 9, when the matter will pass once and for all.     You assume I am not doing anything and you would be wrong.

    It is not a matter of me thinking the government is sick, it is a matter of observing it at all levels, that has led me to reach this decision.

    Spend a little time looking around and even you will be able to see this.

    You might begin with Carl Goldman and how he is connected to other players in the hospital issue. And why he thought he should try and broker a deal. Then you might look at Graig Peters to see how he and his business is connected, and on and on. If that is not enough to get you started, you may even want to look at how the city manager is connected with the hospital board.

    Our city government is not for the people, it is for the so called self proclaimed community leaders that have their own self and business interests at heart. nothing else.

    Though very disappointed in the vote, personally I can only hope that Mr. Seaver (and others) are people ‘of their word’ like so many of their employee’s claim them to be.

    I was not satisfied with the ‘traffic’ study or the explanations NOT given in regards to the traffice changes! AGAIN, they have moved one of the entrance/exits (according to the artist renditions) to the center of the ‘blind curve’ on McBean, right next to Village Homes North!!!

    I found out just yesterday afternoon that one doctor located in that area is currently paying G&L $12,000.00 per month for 2000 sq ft.!!!

    Yep, ONLY young, up-and-coming specialists will be able to afford that sort of rent!!!
