Maybe I’m biased since they were so near to my house, but I believe Town Grind Coffee Cafe was one of the cooler independent coffee houses in town.
Alas, they, like Bella Vista over in the TCD*, are gone:
If you’ve never been there, it’s easy to understand why. Town Grind always had very limited hours, closing at or before 5pm. Occasionally they had bands, poetry readings, and discussion groups- you could tell they were trying to attract the rarest of all demographics in Santa Clarita: the suburban bohemians.
Anyway, I’ll miss them.
Are there any independent coffee shops in town left? And no, sorry, Way Station & Saugus Cafe do not count. I know Mitch over at Newhall Coffee was thinking of reopening the Java ‘n Jazz of yesteryear at Lyons & Main Street, but I haven’t heard of any developments lately.
* TCD is the acronym my brother and his 20-something friends use for Town Center Drive. I suppose that means TCD has arrived; it is now, finally, after 10 years, a true SCV destination.

The small coffee house is not a money-making business in most markets. Gourmet coffee, something I love, is truly a luxury that is even harder to make a profit on in this economy.
Sad to see another one go, though… the closest I have locally (Castaic) is the local It’s a Grind. Good coffee, free WiFi, weekend music… I just hope the traffic circle Caltrans foisted on us doesn’t hurt it’s business; no time to scan for business signs when on that not-so-merry go ’round.
independent coffee shops? I guess they are all gone. I can’t think of one that’s left. What a shame. The hours here made it really difficult to support this place, but they probably found that the nighttime business was even worse than the daytime business.
Starbucks tastes like poo, and the manager of the store on Seco Canyon & Copperhill is a white supremacist. HE has “meetings” at his house. BOO.
How does he like his coffee? Black?
He orders vanilla flavored milk and sits in the corner staring at his small penis.

OBAMA’S SPEECH:

OMG, it’s sooooo scary! To the silly ones out there, make sure you keep your precious little ones from hearing their President’s Speech!
I believe there is one off of Sierra Highway and Via Princessa across the driveway from Carls Jr. I am not a big coffee person, so I don’t really know for sure. I am the akward person who goes to meeting at a coffee place and either orders juice or a water.
It’s A Grind… It’s A Chain
