  • At nautical-themed State of the City luncheon, City of Santa Clarita says it’s BFF/First Mates with local businesses. All five council members release videos like Mayor Captain Ferry’s above, explain what city is doing to pilot the SS Santa Clarita through these turbulent economic waters, around the dangerous recessionary shoals, and into the harbor of prosperity (have I killed the metaphor yet?) SIGNAL, KHTS

Its nice to see that everyone has finally figured out the election REALLY occurs in the next two weeks with the return of vote by mails.

So Buck has decided to award Bob Jensen a Hart seat with his endorsement. The incumbent, Strickland, will win also. That leaves a horserace between Solomon and Messina for the third seat where I would now give a very SLIGHT edge to Solomon because she did not secure the McKeon endorsement. (Valdes will come fifth.)

Joe MIGHT eke out a third place finish, but it will be by the most narrow of margins.

I wonder if the “state of the City” lunch addressed the fact that a lot of local businesses are closing (Papalino’s just closed recently), and the fact that the opening of the new addition to the Town Center has been delayed until April of next year because about 10% of the new retail space has been leased out?

Well, it should be clear to all that the city is not spending money that benefit the taxpayers, because the are spending it to give business a break. The 21 point plan only benefits business at taxpayer expense.

Ferry the clown has not produced a video to explain it. He even admits the city reserves are being reduced. Nice shell game Ken.

A reference of ‘walking the plank’ would have been a nice addition,Jeff

Here’s some good news: Hart High School placed 948 out of 40,000 of the nations high schools and made Newsweeks top 1500 list, based on the AP Program! Okay Timothy Myers and Jeff, go at it…..

The data for that Newsweek thing is all self reported. Draw your own conclusions.

I am sure not because these things are always based on “The Sun Always Shines in Santa Clarita.”

I attended the luncheon yesterday. They are opening a phase of the patio on Nov. 7th and will open the location in phases. They advised that some restaurants and shops will be opening, but did not give specific names of businesses.

Also, a lady asked about business retention. Pulskamp cited the city’s 21 point business plan. They didn’t talk about vacancy rates or loss of business.

Myers, I thought Buck endorsed Solomon? No?

  8. cash says:

“Santa Clarita, you’re in good hands with the group that’s at the helm,” Pulskamp said.

How’s that for patting yourself on the back. Ken’s comment was made to an audience of mostly business people. Ferry’s joke about having to sweep the sidewalks as a meaning overlooked by the crowd, (even got a laugh) and Ferry is too dumb to see it. The city is cutting service so that they can give business a break.

Example, roads that would have been seal coated before new stripping, are not being coated. New strips are be placed on roadways that the asphalt is breaking down. This is being done because of budget considerations. The budget should always be a consideration, but not maintaining the infrastructure so that dollars are available to pay for the 21 point plan, should be unacceptable to the taxpayers. What Ken and his shell game.

Temporary wall board is being installed in place of window at the new mall. That should be a hint that all is not well. Watch for West Field to be in BK. Macy’s is on the brink of having to file.

I did not see Buck’s endorsement of Solomon. Hanrion and King endorsed her but I understood that that was payback for her not running in 2006 or 2008. If Buck endorses Solomon he is trying to hammer a stake through Joe’s heart.

Are you saying that perhaps other schools within our valley did as well, or better, but did not ‘report’ their results? I would ‘conclude’ after reading this very short article, http://www.the-signal.com/news/article/18961/,
that Hart High should be proud of their staff and students.

Some recognition for any of our schools, is a good thing, don’t you think? I mean we’re talking about the SCV being ‘represented’(double fist punch with right hand to left shoulder/chest!)
