David Gauny to run for City Council

And all of TimBen Boydston’s supporters sighed:

Santa Clarita resident, businessman and community volunteer David Gauny will announce his candidacy for Santa Clarita City Council at City Hall’s main entrance Friday morning at 11.

Voters will decide when they cast their ballots in April.

In an at large City Council system, it’s more difficult to predict results, at least for me. But here’s what voters will be faced with come April:

City of Santa Clarita Ballot

Vote for three:

  • Frank Ferry (Incumbent)
  • Laurene Weste (Incumbent)
  • Marsha McLean (incumbent)
  • TimBen Boydston (Theater Director)
  • David Gauny (Mortgage professional)

I’d say it’s pretty unlikely that both Gauny and Boydston could be elected and unseat two of the incumbents. But what does this do for their individual chances?

Let’s say I’m a Valencia mom who likes Gauny and Boydston for their work on the hospital issue and wants change at City Hall. In order to vote for both of them, I have to choose not to vote for at least two of the incumbents. I might really want Frank Ferry out, but Laurene Weste and Marsha McLean? They are dedicated public servants, and I like the work they do, so I’m only going to vote for Gauny and give my other two votes to McLean and Weste.

So doesn’t this make it harder for either Boydston or Gauny to be elected? Splits the “reform” vote as it were?

Gees Jeff, at least give Mr. Boyston credit for being a past city council member. One with knowledge of where the skeletons are hanging!

BTW McLean and Weste need to go. They have outlived their usefulness as a member of the council. Dedication is not enough!

    WTF!!!!!!!!

    Sometimes I wonder why I even bother……

Oh, well. I guess Dave Gauny can be the next Diane Trautman.

    Glad to hear this news.

I have to say that I was really surprised that the ‘Tummy Tuck, Nose Job, Message Treatment, Teeth Whitening Magazine’ (aka, The Magazine of Santa Clarita) didn’t include David and his wifes name under their picture, as they did everyone else who’s pictures appeared in the article in ON the Town (An Evening Under the Stars).
It was a great picture of the two of them and I was upset that their names weren’t beneath it!

I’m not sure that the ‘Valencia Moms” were on Gauny’s side re: the hospital. If he runs on the NIMBY platform he’s not going to get far.

If you are referring to the Hoefflin Foundation fundraiser that was NOT Dave Gauny’s wife.

I never read that Ragazine. It always goes directly from my mail box to the Waste Management barrel, along with all the other add crap. I had to dig it out of the trash to see for myself. Sure enough, no name under David’s image.

Timmy is trying to start trouble.

  9. David Gauny says:

    lvogel,

For the record, the picture in the magazine was with Sharon Bronson, a member of my campaign team, not my wife! My wife Tracy was not at the event but she sure has enjoyed the repeated error people have naturally made about this photo!! :) Yes, a caption would have been a good thing!

Also for the record, I wish TimBen the very best in this campaign. I am running for an incumbent’s seat, not against TimBen. I believe the time for change is now and I am certain I will have both similar and distinct issues from his campaign.

Also, Tim Meyers, I’ve read your posts and your predictions. I have tremendous respect for Diane and believe her campaign raised issues that were otherwise dormant; her action caused a reaction and there is value in that. You seem to advocate doing nothing which is the worst kind of apathy and unworthty of our great democracy.

To the rest, I hope to have your support in April and look forward to hearing from you along the way. Please come hear my platform tomorrow at 11am at City Hall if you are able. Thank you!

what role will Bill Reynold’s play in a Gauny administration?

My apologies David (and Tracy), without the caption…how would I know? I never met (or even saw) your wife before, so the ‘mistake’ is understandable, though regrettable.

I got no dog in the fight (truly). It just pains me almost physically to see fine people burn so much time, effort and in some cases personal money in this all or nothing game.

Give me a little over/under action. Will Buck McKeon endorse the council incumbents immediately OR does he at least wait until after Thanksgiving?

  15. cash says:

I looked in Bucks eyes and found that no one is home. I think endorsing all of the incumbents would be a dumb political move. It kind of sends a message that you have pretty low standards, easy to achieve. But because we are talking about Buck, and he does not seem to be the smartest guy I know and one that thinks with his heart, mostly, I say sometime before the mail in ballots.

    Cash:

There are conservatively 2,000 to 2,500 seniors just hanging by their mailbox day after day to see who Buck will endorse. Are you reconsidering your views on Soylent Green?

  17. cash says:

You really think Buck will endorse all three? Weste and Mclean probably. Ferry could care less about seniors and he has demonstrated such. If Ferry wants the senior vote, he needs to find away to hand out 2500 turkey’s (or parts there of) at the taxpayers expense.

Sharon Bronson is a Sales Manager at KHTS. Seems a conflict to also be a member of Gauny’s campaign.

    Jeff:

No need to use all three votes and waste one on an incumbent.

I’ll only need to cast two – one for Boydston and one for Gauney! (Unless Diane Trautman would run again)

I would NOT in a 100 years vote for Ferry, Weste or McLean. They have really harmed our community. Please vote for BOYDSTON and GAUNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This city needs a change……………………
