  1. Need for Involved Citizenry says:

Anyone who voted for Kathy Colley ought to be ashamed. I love this quote to end the article:

Kathy Colley said she has some basic goals for the Newhall County Water District.

“I’m hoping to procure reasonably rated, quality water for us to enjoy.”

Huh? Is that like rating a football team? Where does price play into all of this? After watching my waterbill go up by 89% within 5 years, it is time that the water board folks start to focus on cost to existing customers rather than just bringing in more water for new development.

  2. Petz says:

Anyone who complains about water rates going up in the past should look to the incumbents who were reelected and building a Taj Mahal water buiding in Newhall. Of course LEED certified to make themselves feel good.

Petz asked Mikec about his ability to control unions in the district and was rebuked being told there were no unions. At this point they probably would not want to take the pay cut.

The NWD is too small to provide the needed services efficiently and should be merged into another entity.

What do you know about NCWD? They provide a fine service I never have issues with them, and the few times I’ve needed help, they’ve been prompt, courteous and professional

Everyone opposed to Obamacare is invited to SCV City Hall to participate in a teleconference at noon. We will be joined by Buck McKeon who will speak and listen to us. Join liberty lovers across America as we join together and raise our voices in unison against this assault on our freedom.

“Zack” reputedly leaves somewhere in Northbridge Pointe for the last 15 years. A wise man, he structured his lifestyle so that the residuals would pay the bills and he could bank up money against long dry spells in the acting biz when he gets a fairly well paying gig.

  10. Annette says:

Despicable truly describes the Colley’s who chose to slam a very intelligent man.
    She did not speak before.
Does she need a husband to speak for her now?
    Conflict of interest.
Will she recuse herself on CLWA matters?
We will see the errors of the ways as time marches on.

  11. mike says:

It won’t be long before she behaves in a way worthy of a recall effort. It’s up to the public to keep an eye on her.

And I should say, shame on the Republican organizations for endorsing her. Every member of those boards should be explaining themselves right now. I can understand if they weren’t going to endorse either of the Democrats in the race, but they should have limited their endorsement to Atkins. There is no excuse, whatsoever.

  12. JC says:

Yes, Annette, madame Clley will have to recuse herself from any issues regarding CLWA. CLWA wants to absorb the Newhall water board, and that is why an ignorant puppet like Kathy Colley was put in that seat. But when CLWA issues come up before the Newhall water board, Colley will have to recuse herself. Shouldn’t even be legal for her to be on that board with a husband on another water board that wants to take over the Newhall water board.

Why did Colley suddenly find her voice? Because she can now be told what to say. Before the election, no amount of “coaching” could have concealed her ignorance so the Colley’s were seen and heard nowhere. At least they are smart enought to know how stupid they are. As for Ed Colley speaking for her, that would be quite difficult as he himself is as ignorant as his wife. He was put in a CLWA seat for the same reasons Cathy was put in this seat, to vote as he is told to vote. With such a small voter turnout, it was easy for just a small number of Republicans to get this silly ignorant woman into that seat and now the Colley’s can lie about other candidates, the election is over. Despicable is right.

Still nothing in the Signal about the Colley’s restraining orders against each other regarding spousal and child abuse. Should have been in the paper well in advance of the absentee ballots going out.

  13. JC says:

Mike, Republicans have supported Democrat Maria Gutzeit (sp) so there was no reason for these voters to abandon Mike Cruz. Mike had endorsements from Bob Kellar and Bill Kennedy and Republicans should have felt quite comfortable supporting Mike Cruz. There really was no reason for Republicans to support Kathy Colley especially since Kathy and Ed are not even respected by local Republicans.

  14. navigator says:

Being a member of the “Republican machine” I, too, was appalled at the support given to both Colleys. Partisanship is out of the window when you’ve got only a lame choice to vote for and both of these people are lame.

  15. mike says:

I haven’t heard of anyone, here or in person, that seems to think this was a good idea. On election night, I saw quite a few notable Republicans sincerely upset that Mike C. lost.

Who then was responsible for endorsing her?

  16. mike says:

Let’s start with the SCV Republican Assembly. Do they endorse by way of a board vote or a membership vote?

    Their officers:
    Joe Messina
    Lynn Vakay
    Errol Valladares
    Paul Strickland
    Brian Koegle
    Michael Hildebrand
    Scott Wilk
    BJ Atkins
    Phil Ellis
    Andre Hollings

Let’s get each on the record.

  23. I hate to be the one to inform the Colley’s of this, but if anyone would be responsible for stopping the unionization of anything in Santa Clarita, it would be me.

I will also note that Maria Gutzeit and Mike Cruz are hardly comparable to each other. Maria has a proven track record of reaching across partisan lines while Mike does not. Having said that, I hear he is a decent man.

  24. Jeff, I honestly do not understand how such an itteligent and thoughtful person such as yourself cannot see through the Big Government sham that is the health care reform Bill! All of the Democrat versions of the Bill will succeed in raising taxes on the middle class and result in a continued decline in availability of specialists while barely incre3asing the total insured. Time to wake up Jeff my friend.
