I wasn’t sure where to attribute those. I’m going to figure it out, but on the report I was following, the VBMs were treated as separate precincts. Which precinct is missing?

The map looks great, but the data used is incorrect (election day ballots only but not the vote by mail ballots) and one election district from Castaic is missing.

The point, that’s as clear as anything else, is that there is no second city. So stop basing policy based on the possibility of something that nobody wants and will never happen. If the people of southern Castaic want to have a local government, they should be free to be governed by the local government of their choosing.

You missed the entire point.

Yes, the purpose of the CITY wanting (only) key parts was to sabotage the formation of a new second City.

But the PEOPLE of those areas do not want the 100+ year old town of Castaic split into the “INs” and the “OUTs.” Pitting neighbor against neighbor is bad planning, and the City should be ashamed for advocating that.

That is, if the City had any shame…

The concern, as I recall it, was that if the city annexed part of Castaic, it would take away the option of a separate city off the table. Since the people of Castaic are resolutely and consistently against forming a new city, I think it’s a moot point.

Beyond that, I can’t imagine the harm in having some portion of the community under a different (not to mention more responsive) local authority.

I should point out that there are some precincts that are absentee-only, and that might just be in Castaic. I’m not sure if they are completely accounted for.

To give you a head start, if you break up the Valley by school districts, as the registrar is so kind to do, Castaic had the highest turnout at over 16%. Sulphur Spring, for example, was around 10%.
