I don’t know if the U students will be flooding COC, but they are for sure there in full force! I know quite a few people who are looking ot pick up a few units at COC, and registration for winter courses is pretty much a pipe dream unless you are high on the priority calendar. I’m sure that has much more to do with the very few courses they are offering this year, but additional students come spring certainly will make it difficult for students to get the courses they need to graduate (for instance….the math course required for graduation has FIVE open seats left for winter and registration isn’t even open to new/returning students yet).

Al Ferdman you are right. We all know the players and can see that the action taken by the council does not look good. Bill Kennedy is the president of the chamber of commerce, a city planning commissioner and now the president or perhaps director of the new SCVEDA. Larry Rasmussen and Bob Kellar are very good friends. Larry and Bill made a passionate plea for the 200K and not the amount Ken and staff recommended. BTW Kellar appointed Kennedy to the commission seat…..and on and on it goes. Again our city walks a fine line of at least looking corrupt. It is time for them and their quid pro quo way of governing to go.

The COC assertion is a great example of administrators pulling something out of their behind that is not supported by the numbers. The Cal State system put a substantial fee increase in place this fall and applications are UP 53% year on year. I am sure this fee increase will not dampen UC applications.

By the way, our family is living the dream and absorbing the fee increases with students in both the UC and Cal State systems.
