Another major grow house in the SCV

After an anonymous tipster reported a “foul odor” (most foul!), the SCV Sheriff’ Station swooped in and busted a fully-loaded grow house whose contents equal at least $1 million:

Investigators served a search warrant on a home on Royal Road in Castaic this morning after a month-long investigation, that started with an anonymous tip.

The tipster reported a foul odor coming from the residence which housed more than 490 marijuana plants.

“This is a very good size grow,” said a narcotics investigator at the scene. “You wouldn’t know anything was going on from the outside, even the grass is well kept.”

Of course the grass was well-kept! That’s what they do, they grow grass!

The high life in the SCV must be imitating fiction: this is the second major grow house busted in recent years as the TV Show Weeds, once filmed in Stevenson Ranch, continues to air.

For what it’s worth, if you’re looking to stay away (or move closer I suppose) to these grow houses, the last one was in Tesoro Del Valle. This one was way up Castaic way.

No arrests have been made, but I imagine the homeowner’s buzz has really been harshed by the news.

Were the neighbors also tiped off by large amounts of empty Dorito bags overflowing the Blue Barrels?

  2. CC says:

HA! Why don’t they just legalize it and be done with it. It is a victimless crime and it is harshing my high.

  3. mikec says:

The official response will be for medical reasons..I have a card and I follow the Costco model of growing in Bulk! :-) !!!

  4. spineflower2 says:

Legalize it, tax it, balance the budget and empty overcrowded prisons. It’s too logical for politicians to stomach.

    STOP SNITCHING!

  6. Jack says:

I’m sure that would stop all of the teens and young adults from burglarizing our cars and houses so they can raise money to buy the weed to feed their daily quest for a high? Victimless crime, my a$$!

  7. mike says:

yes, the weed fiends, burglarizing the town over for a fix!

  8. CC says:

LOL! Most of these same teens just have to tap Daddy’s medicine chest for a much more dangerous high.

Watch out! Roaming 420 teens on the loose!

    Gods way of saying High!

Speaking of the munchies, see if this don’t bring back memories.

The high taxes we pay to incarcerate a pot smoker is insane . . .

Likewise, the ‘fear’ that has been brought by the ‘get tough on crime’ crowd for weed use and possession is totally out sync with reality.

If you want to lock up a ‘smoker’ to the tune of between $25,000 and $45,000 a year, please do me the favor and stop complaining about high taxes.

Of course kids shouldn’t use drugs for any reason but legalizing it for adults will reduce our taxes . . .

  11. Jack says:

No one is talking about locking up smokers. I believe teens or adults caught smoking weed just get a simple ticket and a fine.

Now growers, dealers and burglars are a different story. They all contribute to the degradation of our community and I am all for locking them up.

  12. spineflower2 says:

    Degrades the community? Yeah, right!

Good thing all this alcohol and tobacco we gladly sell here is harmless…

  13. Brian says:

It’s illegal therefore nobody will use it.

    BWA HA HA HA!

Ever heard of prohibition? How did that work out?

  14. spineflower2 says:

Oh, and kids only steal for pot. Not for any other purpose. Stop pot growers and all SCV burglaries will stop, don’t you know?

    Legalize it! Tax it!
