Laurene Weste must be on cloud nine.
Just weeks after being re-minted mayor, the CEMEX saga appears to be on its final chapter and the Las Lomas project is now dead. The city has fought for years to rid SCV of both elements.
Through a spokesman, developer Dan Palmer indicated he will still try to develop the property.
Las Lomas would have added 5,500 housing units, 2.7 million square feet of office, a 300-room hotel, and more at the intersection of the 5 and 14 freeways.
Flashbacks:
I do believe that Palmer got out before the final whistle blew. We really didn’t need another Jakes Way project in Newhall Pass.
