Update on Mark Kirkpatrick-And Here is Your Straight Line

SCVTalkers will recall that earlier this week we learned that one Mark Kirkpatrick had pulled papers but had informed the Clerk’s office that he did not want to run.  Today we learned that Mr. Kirkpatrick withdrew his name when he found out the position was not full time.  (There is your straight line!)

Also, it appears that the nascent campaign of one Johnny Pride may arrive stillborn.  Apparently many of JP’s friends and partisans are not actually registered voters.

  2. Petz says:

Petz has decided not to file the Candidate Intention Statement with the city clerk after a review of his postings in the forum and a desire not to be subject to the “poison pen” of those few who may oppose his candidacy, including his wife.

His nascent campaign Peeps for Petz will lay dormant for several years, until the next cycle.

Does that mean the Aztek wrap gets cancelled? I need to call the guy, it might be too late.

This will upset Rush, but I’m sending the P4P shirts to Haiti.

Just could not bear the thought of a certain Sunday columnist taking my posts out of context and being defined by my enemies.

If you ran for City Council EVERY Sunday would be a 750 word tome about why everyone should vote for PETZ!!!! until Election Day or I got thrown off the paper!!!

On the positive side, unlike Mr. Kirkpatrick, Johnny Pride had wanted to devote substantial time to service on the council. I must say that when I see that citizens like Johnny Pride can run at all, it gives me hope that anyone truly can run for office and that the voters can still make their own independent choices. Sometimes voters forget that they really do still have power. I wish they’d remember that when it somes to the national elections. Almost anyone can still run for office in this country. And almost anyone can win. And sometimes we need a “regular” person just to shake things up. I hope that JP gets his papers fixed by the deadline. Even with his inexperience, he clearly has a desire to help. This is starting to feel like America again.

I don’t think you understood the straight line. Mr. Kirkpatrick DID NOT want to run when he found out it was NOT a full time job.

    Petz:

I will RIGHT HERE and RIGHT NOW endorse the 2012 candidacy of Petz. Unfortunately, that position will be the sinecure of whoever comes fourth in 2010 if they run again.

Nah Petz! We need to do a draft Petz 2012 campaign…they we can still Richard Riordan’s campaign slogan, when he ran for Mayor of LA…tough enough to turn SCV around!

Timothy Myers, you are, of course, correct. I misspoke, misthought, and miswrote as to Mr. Kirkpatrick. Anxiously awaiting the final slate.
