Carly Fiorina coming to town

The agenda and keynote speaker for Buck McKeon’s February 13 “Women’s Conference” at COC was just released and the surprise keynote speaker is….Carly Fiorina, former HP/Compaq strongwoman and GOP Candidate for the United States Senate:

“The Women’s Conference schedule for February 13th is going to be an exciting event with influential women from across the state and district providing their experience and insight into business, leadership, health, and finance,” said McKeon. “I’m delighted to announce that Carly Fiorina will be joining us that day, as I believe she has a lot to offer other aspiring women.  Carly is a person who successfully put herself through school, earning her undergraduate and master’s degrees and ultimately became the first and only female to lead a Fortune 20 company in the United States.  She and the other gracious speakers will leave attendees with a greater scope of information, resources, and hopefully inspiration.”

It’s interesting that McKeon notes Fiorina’s success in the business world. From all that I’ve read about her, I don’t think she has any children, which might make her have less in common with Valencia Soccer moms. But it fits with the theme of a conference that includes “breakout sessions” on starting your own business as a woman, women’s health and nutrition etc. Dr. Dianne Van Hook, Supreme Chancellor of COC, will also give a speech at the event entitled “Pursuing your Dreams.”

I think Santa Clarita is probably more Chuck DeVore Country than Fiorina Country; it will be interesting to see the results from the primary this summer.

Tsk, tsk, if only Carly was an unattractive liberal, then we would hear Spiney gleefully singing her high praises.
