“Buy guns, buy ammo!”

The January 16 Tea party/anti-illegal alien rally is like a sickness that just doesn’t go away.

Someone has posted a short video of a roughneck telling the crowd to “buy guns, buy ammo” because the politicians are “screwing us.”

This, of course, just after a preacher from Lancaster asked forgiveness for letting evil people overtake the US and probably moments before you-know-who uttered words he still doesn’t regret.

The speaker then referenced the NAU, which I can only assume is that strange Beckian/Dobbsian Conspiracy about a unified Canada, United States, and Mexico using a unit of currency called the Amero. The NAU conspiracy, oddly, popped up in 2005 during the Bush Administration, so it predates all the Obama conspiracies.

If an exhortation to “buy guns, buy ammo” isn’t a call to arms and an endorsement of violence, I don’t know what is. No wonder the crowd was so worked up they harassed a brown-skinned motorist during the rally.

And these are the people our Councilman gave legitimacy to.

Even Buck McKeon has recognized the folly of it all.

Geez Jeff…funny it looks to me like the “brown skinned” guy is the one who stopped his car, got out of his car, and was making gang like hand gestures at the protesters in addition to cussing at them in Spanish. He was mobile, could have easily kept driving, and ignored them. The protesters kept telling him to leave and “go home”. Who was harassing whom? I was not there, but it looks like it was not the protesters behaving badly there.

I guess all of us present and speaking at the Council meeting gave Mr. Herrera legitimacy by being present when he turned and insulted the woman in the front row too, huh?

WOW BGH it never ends with you. Here is a mob of “minutemen” harassing a guy because he is hispanic. Pointing a camera into his car. He didn’t stop his car he was at a red light.

And By Go Home… they were saying Go back to his country take the 5 south and keep driving? Are you that dense?

Blazing: I speak Spanish and understood each cuss word the Hispanic guy uttered. They used the camera to record what he was SAYING as well as doing. I probably would have punched the “brown skinned guy” out for talking to me that way and I guess that by your category I am brown skinned too. As I said, he exited his car looking for trouble and was cussing at them. Are you that dense?
Funny, I don’t have people tell me to go home when I am at a stop light but then again I don’t make gang signs and cuss at them either.
    Besides, I am home, thanks.

  5. Blazing Monk says:

So what you speak Spanish and he cussed he is an adult and they obviously started the harassment. Guy is sitting there in his car and these jerk offs are yelling rude comments to him then sticking their camera in his window. He has the right to drive through Santa Clarita with out being harassed by a bunch of extremist, we also didn’t get to see what provoked the guy to leave his car I am guessing it was asking the guy to quit filming him.

I dare you to drive by the next minute men rally and see if you don’t get some harassment.

the fact you can’t even see the most obvious fact shows how lost you are.

WOW…just watched the video, then comment from Berta Gonzalez-Harper…ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!

Who was harassing whom!?! It was so obvious that this man came to a stop on the corner and these ‘people’ started to refer to him as a person that shouldn’t be here.

Then these ‘people’ had the gull to say this guy was arrested!?!

That group of people yelling those things at the driver were full of HATE…plain and simple! In their words (GO HOME), in their actions (taking pictures and waving signs), then lying about his arrest!

Blazing: I will take that dare.
Nevertheless, I must say you are seeing what you want to see without the context, and that is my point. You were not there, watch a YouTube spot and know everything that happened at the scene.
My scenario is just as plausible as yours is. In fact, I hear Barbara March in the background saying “good job” and knowing how much restraint she has shown in dealing with the illegal immigration issue, am more inclined to believe my scenario than yours. Especially since she says, “the cops are here” and the guy promptly gets back in his car. If the protesters were the instigators, he would have welcomed a sheriff’s presence as a witness and filed charges. I rest my case.
I do agree that people have a right to drive around in peace, whatever their color. However, those looking for trouble, of whatever color, will find it. I think he was the one looking for trouble. Prove me wrong.

BTW, turning the volume up higher, I did not here the gentleman speak any spanish; on the contrary, he first asked, “why you taking my photo for”, then while in the car he asked, “So how do you feel about the black people in this city” when one of the ‘people’ said, “oh yeah you use the race card very conveniently”.

What was said in spanish, Berta Gonzalez-Harper? I couldn’t hear it with all the ‘english speakers’ yelling at this motorist!

    Ivogel: Yes I am.
Harassment is unacceptable regardless of the source. I watched the video and listened to the audio. Twice.
Because the assumption has been made that ALL of these people are white radical racists, you favor the “brown skinned guy”.
I do not condone anyone of any color provoking others because of the color of their skin, religion, etc.
There are plenty of “racists” and radicals on the brown side of the fence too. Have you heard of the Aztlan radicals?

I cannot repeat the cuss words. Listen to him while he is sitting inside the car and the guy has the camera at the open window. These are the same insults usually yelled at “gringos”. Yes, the one woman from Herrera’s group in particular keeps yelling but he is cussing in Spanish all the while. I do think there were a few people over the top, but again the guy could have left but instead held up traffic to keep it going. Watch the cars going around him.
Early on, I saw him make what I believe to be a gang sign but I am certainly no expert on gangs. Because I interpret something differently than you do Jeff, does not make me dishonest. What would be dishonest is if I said I agreed with your assessment when I did not. Again, you see it through your prism, I watch and listen not assuming anything. I know there are plenty of Hispanics itching for a fight just as there are plenty of true racists on both sides. We should ask someone who was actually there. Ask Roger Gitlin or Barbara March what transpired.
    PS It is BERTA, Jeff.

  14. lvogel says:

So you honestly believe that ONE man would try to confront a group of “gringos” by yelling insults in spanish and flahsing gang signs?

I’m having a real hard time with this. The group was rude, belligerent, and was looking to get the reaction they did from him. I would have been pissed off too! However you feel he should have taken it, said nothing and keep going south.

I again listened (even louder) and did not hear the ‘cuss words’ in spanish. Personally, I would have yelled them in english and I wish he had cause he spoke it pretty well, from what I heard him say.

Ivogel: After he turns up the music is when he says in Spanish the equivalent of “you f@@@ing white boy pubic hair”. He also flips him the “bird” during the incident. If you speak Spanish, you can translate it for yourself since I do not want to be on the internet using that language.
On Jeff’s link to “brown skinned guy” at the beginning, as he gets out of the car it appears to me he is making some gesture. Jeff feels he is blocking the camera. Could be, or could be something else entirely.
You ask if I believe one Hispanic guy would take on a mob of white guys. Yeah. Don’t I take on a mob of white guys every time I post here? Moreover, young Hispanic guys love to play “quién es más macho”. Did not that other Hispanic fellow walk right up and start talking to the protesters waving their flags. I believe the label for him on You Tube said something like “brave guy confronts protesters”.
My point is all of us are speculating because none of us witnessed this incident first hand. I am simply challenging your assumptions because it could just as easily be my scenario as what you perceive. You Tube leaves a lot to be desired. I have no reason to believe Roger Gitlin or Barbara March would lie about what took place either.

    Berta Gonzalez-Haper

This has been (to say the least) very disturbing to me. I felt for this gentleman from the get-go who had the unfortunate timing of being STOPPED at a red light at the WRONG place!

After considering your translation of what the man said in his car, I decided to ask my American-Mexican (LEGAL,just like you) friend, Catalina, to translate what he is actually saying in his vehicle.

She only had to hear it once to hear the ‘MUSIC’ playing very loudly and he did say, “eres un pendejo”…translation,,,,”you dummy”…or “you stupid”…She did not here the ‘cuss’ words you refer to only those coming from the crowd on the sidewalk.

When he had the thumbs up (not a gang sign) he was actually chanting with the people on the sidewalk, “white power, white power”…in ENGLISH!

Again, the only spanish spoken word, that was even legible, is ‘pendejo’…slang for dummy, stupid, etc.,etc.

  35. Berta González-Harper says:

    Jeff: Thank you.

ND: As I said, I believe people on both sides behaved badly. As I also said, none of us were there and this entire incident is subject to interpretation. I simply questioned your assumptions that all the protesters are racists picking on a “brown skinned guy” to use Jeff’s label. I see a Hispanic person who could have driven off, made a right turn, or whatever and avoided the entire situation. He did not. He got out of his car, and kept it going. I also see protesters telling him to go home (yea maybe México, which he may not even be from), and being less than courteous. I do not condone either set of behaviors. I think it was at the very least stupid of the Hispanic guy to get into it with these folks and then keep it going. I also think it was stupid of the protester to say he had been arrested as an illegal (in not so nice language) simply because someone saw the guy with deputies. Plenty of stupidity to go around. However, I do not see it as clear-cut the protesters were the aggressors as you do.

Ivogel: I am not going to go into Spanish cuss words 101 with you. If someone driving by stopped, got out of their car, flipped me the bird and said the three cuss words I interpreted him to say, I would have a problem with that individual too regardless of ethnic background or race. Everyone could have handled it better.
When I first came to look at what eventually became my house in Santa Clarita, I wound up right in the middle of the “racial unrest incident” near Magic Mountain. I had to go right through an angry mob of black (or African American) young people to get on the freeway to go home. They were throwing rocks and bottles at cars. They were chanting racist remarks about whites and Hispanics. I could have rolled down my window and given them an earful. I am brave, not stupid. I did not taunt them or incite them further and they let me pass without incident. I drove through and went about my business.
Jeff’s “brown skinned guy” could have done the same. I am sure there were plenty of other Hispanics driving by without incident that day. Think about that.

  36. lvogel says:

I’m done….I wish I was there prior to the filming and after the filming…Prior, so I could see with my OWN eyes and hear with my OWN ears why this man who was stopped at a red light, felt the need to get out of his car in the first place. When he got back in his vehicle and flipped them off, then chanted ‘white power’, then turned up the music and said, “eres un pendejo”, I’d like to have seen where he went and stayed for the sheriffs (who DIDN’T ARREST HIM) and spoke to them, shook 2 officers hands and went on his merry way.

I wasn’t there; many of us who are posting on this blog, weren’t there. We don’t know what led up to this incident, all we have are these videos and we all can interpret what we see, in our own way.

If I were this gentleman I would have been angry; I would have been hurt; but most of all, I would have felt threatened and when people feel threatened they either retreat or attack….a little of both was happening here.

I am Caucasian race, female gender, American nationality, Hispanic ethnicity, California native, and very proud to be all of the above. I would be equally proud if my race was Black or Asian and all of the rest enumerated. I was Hispanic, (according to Webster’s Dictionary: of or relating to the people, speech or culture of or anyone descended from anyone from Spain, Portugal, and the Americas (North, South and Central) before it was the politically correct term as my parents taught me the difference between race and ethnicity early in life. Unfortunately, ignorance on this subject persists as witnessed by population numbers constantly referring to xx% white vs. xx% Latino/Hispanic. How do they count me? How do they count Black Hispanics or Asian Hispanics? How do they count any of us accurately? I have never been Latino just because the US Census Bureau decided that is the term used. I am not Italian, Romanian, etc or descended from anyone from the ancient Latium, as far as I know.

  48. Berta González-Harper says:

Kari: If you read my other posts, I have been saying all along it is our Federal Government and our elected officials who have made this whole situation such a mess.
There will always be those who hate on both sides. I get that and know I will never reach those people although I will keep trying and pray for a miracle. The more reasonable people do not hate anyone based on their race, skin color, country of origin, etc. The American people are amongst the most generous in the world.
I do not believe the problem is only illegals coming from México although because of sheer numbers they are more visible. You also don’t see Iraqi’s marching down Soledad Canyon Rd. waving Iraq’s flag as happened with Hispanic students protesting a few years ago marching, chanting Viva México, and waving the Méxican flag. Events like that only inflame people more and that is where you get comments like “if you don’t like it here go home.”
Plenty of people coming here illegally use México as their gateway and come for Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and points south. Since no one is wearing t-shirts with their country of origin emblazoned across the front, people ignorantly assume all are Mexicans.
There are illegals from China, Kenya, Canada, Caribbean nations, Vietnam and virtually all over the world. We even have many who entered legally but overstayed their visas, etc. and are now considered illegal also.
What I am consistently saying is the United States of America has a right to limit entry to those persons who have completed the approval process and met the requirements for legal entry as established by law. The American people have a right to expect their government to protect their interests and enforce the law.
I have said many times that greedy employers should suffer consequences, elected officials should be held accountable, and Americans and others here legally should be put to work both securing our borders and speeding up the process for legal entry for those who qualify .
I do not blame those who come here regardless of where they come from. Many of them are victimized horrifically but they make the choice to take a chance and break the law. I blame those who are responsible for making sure that only those persons who have been vetted and meet the requirements are allowed to enter and welcomed, receive whatever benefits they may be entitled to, and are protected by the laws of this country.
People are angry and if this issue is not dealt with soon, I believe the radicals on both sides will step it up. I do not want to see it get to that.

Nothing in his message says “Go out and create violence”. He’s just saying to be prepared, have a gun, protect yourself.
