  1. Scott Ervin says:

“The pose at least resembles the tuck stance skiers like Vonn take …”

Resembles? With the exception of looking at the camera, it is exactly the stance skiers use in downhill and portions of a giant slalom course.

I think those who suggest it is provocative are the ones who should be called out.

    She’s a skier . . skiing.

Honestly, if this article (or womentalksports.com) hadn’t pointed it out, I wouldn’t have thought twice about it.

Call me a sexist? That’s good. If that’s what you think I am because I happen to believe in SI Covers depicting women in natural sports situations, I’m a proud sexist. You’re darn right I am.

  2. John Adams says:

Don’t tell Abigal! But I would Tap it!

  3. CastaicClay says:

What happened to the $15,000 donation story?

About the S.I. cover, some people need to get a life.

  4. lvogel says:

oops, didn’t read your ‘daily post’ before replying on your post on the Kellar subject…

I know several people that have lost their jobs in recent months or the past year, and unfortunately they will be part of the 39% increase!

Oh well, some of these same unemployed people feel very strongly about not having a universal health care plan.

The rich just keep getting richer….

But this is AMERICA and big business is what makes us so wealthy (that and the cheap labor that helps run these big busness’s).

  5. lvogel says:

    Re SI cover:

‘provocative’, really?! The only females that are usually on the cover are in bikinis and someone feels this cover is ‘provocative’?! WOW.

First Austrian coaches say she’s too heavy: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/olympics_blog/2010/01/lindsey-vonn-says-austrian-coaches-apologized-to-her-for-weight-comment.html

    now this!

I hope she blows them all away and sweeps them off the slopes! GO LINDSEY!!!

  6. CC says:

Go Bob! Keep people talking about this problem at ALL levels of government.

  7. Vince Hans says:

Perhaps the City should publish their “Code of Ethics” to put that part of the controversy to rest.

  8. Vince Hans says:

What people like Berta and Kellar’s supporters have done so well, is turn this into an issue that it isn’t so they can bury what the REAL issue is, and that’s if Kellar broke the city’s code of of ethics.

  9. navigator says:

The photo of Lindsey is only provocative because she is a pretty girl and some folks have sleezy minds.

  10. Berta González-Harper says:

Vince: www. santa-clarita.com for the Code of Ethics and Conduct. Bob did not violate the Code of Ethics and Conduct. He was speaking as AN INDIVIDUAL, free speech guaranteed under the Constitution. He was introduced by someone else as Councilmember … as Laurene Weste et al are introduced as or perhaps you are introduced as Homeowner Association President at your church coffee klatch. This was not an official function pertaining in any way to the City of Santa Clarita nor did he say he was representing the Council, City, etc. No one in their right mind could deduce he was there in an official capacity. Read the Code.

  11. Vince Hans says:

Thanks Berta, but before I go any further on the city’s website, can you make sure Kellar won’t throw another fit if I select the “Espanol” button that is prominently placed there?

Seems “One flag, One language” only applies when he suits him. Unless of course, he is taking steps to remove that from the City’s site.

  12. Vince Hans says:

*Seems “One flag, One language” only applies when he suits him.

    he = it

  13. Vince Hans says:

By the way, I don’t see the Code of Ethics anywhere on the City’s site. Do you mind posting a direct link?
    Thanks

  14. Berta González-Harper says:

Vince: I am not very good with the link thing but if you go to http://www.santa-clarita.com and type in the search box: City Council Code of Ethics and Conduct the actual document is the first item to come up.

As to the Bob Kellar comments: It is my understanding that the Government MANDATES that when foreign language speaking public population reaches xx% of total population, all official stuff has to be in Spanish, Korean, or whatever.
I question how “they” arrive at their numbers but that aside, Bob Kellar has no say in the matter any more than I do. If I had anything to say about it, I would say save the taxpayer money used on translations and instead require all residents legally here, but who are non English proficient, to take ESL classes so they can vote, get better paying jobs, and participate in English just like all the other immigrants who came before did.
