They do. It’s a public school, so they are held to the same teacher standards as any other public school. As far as I know, there are no teachers on emergency credentials, if that is what you meant. All of the teachers are degreed, and many have Masters (of my daughters 3 teachers, I believe 2 have Masters).

You can see the teachers bios on the SCVi website under ‘meet the team’ (or something like that). If you are super interested LOL, you can read the teacher highering guidelines in the charter that is linked on the site somewhere (I don’t remember which tab it’s under, though).

My girls were at Foster. I’ve heard similar frustrations from fellow SCVi parents who were at other schools in the valley (in and out of SUSD). Obviously we’re all there because it was offering something we felt our children weren’t getting at their home schools. But for sure there seems to be a growing frustration at Foster. Like I said, not sure if the feelings of frustration are new or if there has always been a level of dissatisfaction and I just hadn’t heard about it before now (because a lot of approached to ask about SCVi or homeschooling….since I’m doing both LOL).

On the Charter School front…I just wanted to say that our decision to move our (SUSD) child to SCVi had nothing to do with elitism and everything to do with the SUSD failing to meet our expectations. I know at least a dozen other families that have made the move (or gone to homeschooling) under similar circumstances. We’ve actually pulled our other SUSD recently to homeschool and have had multiple parents approach us/call saying that they too are considering pulling their children to homeschool and were looking for advice. I don’t know if this displeasure is a growing movement or if it was lurking in the shadows all these years (our oldest was at SUSD K-5), but every day I’m a little more shocked at how unhappy fellow parents are w/our SUSD school.

Nathan Imhoff wrote a fair and decent editorial. Like much of our political leanings these days, most people are probably somewhere in the middle. But the middle isn’t getting heard over the shouting radicals.
