George Runner Walks

State Senator George Runner seen with an aide at the Save Our State rally on Feb 27, prior to Yancy taking the podium.

At today’s Save Our State rally, the same preacher that opened the Jan 16 rally was invited back; this time, some of the his remarks caused State Senator George Runner to leave.  Audie Yancy, the chaplain of the Antelope Valley Minutemen and pastor of First Baptist Church in Quartz Hill, engaged the pro-amnesty crowd saying something to the effect of: “you may not respect our nation and its laws, but you need to respect GOD.”  This engagement preceded this video.  Mr. Runner is seen in a heated exchange with Frank Jorge at the start of the video; Runner then departs abruptly.  Next, Roger Gitlin is seen doing a double-take; Mr. Runner is then seen walking to the parking lot at 0:42.

UPDATE: Jeff’s summary includes the pastor’s comments that made Runner abandon ship

According to The Signal article, Senator Runner believed the rally was a Tea Party event.

Frank Jorge, the emcee for the event, later said Mr. Runner’s departure was the “first casualty of the rally” and that “I want everybody to know what a weenie George Runner is.”

The prayer was inappropriate and cannot be defended in any manner, way, shape or form. I will not attend an future rallys where this man is a leader. Just recite the Lord’s prayer and be done with it.

Roger Gitlin’s look says it all. Runner will definitely not forget what happened here despite his email apology and Roger will not be welcome in Republican circles.

He also rudely told the opposition to “shut up” right before the prayer. What a great pastor families and children from all over SCV can look up to and admire.

    Great speaker too. :/

    Olenka:

He is not from the SCV, he is from the Antelope Valley, just like most of these whack jobs are from out of town; They don’t dare show their face where they live!

    Tim Myers,

I know he’s from Quartz Hill. I was at the rally myself. And I know most of these clowns were from outside of SCV… which boils my blood.

Regardless though, he’s a pastor. People typically trust and look up to those carrying such a title. He was invited back to the SCV… to run his mouth.

I’m not surprised Runner left. I would have done the same thing.

I’m still gathering my thoughts, experiences, and photos from today. Sigh.

(Jeff should have some good video coming up.)

Clarification, it was 1:20 when Runner actually left. He can be see in the far left corner of the video a couple times walking back and forth before he finally left.

I guess this is a true testament to NickelDime’s “reporting”

Come on ND, get the facts straight. Is it really that hard for you?

NickelDime: You are on notice. Further errors involving timing and YouTube clips will result in the collapse of an empire.

    Is this real?

There, there, ND. I appreciate it, we all do. I toss love and kudos your way like beads at Mardi Gras.

My photos kinda suck, and I’m gonna wait until tomorrow to toss my comments in. I really want it to SHINE for SCVguy. He’s kinda my mentor and sensei rolled into one big ball of corrections. I myself kinda just walked amongst the “crowd” (what a sad turnout) the whole time. Snapped a few pictures, engaged a few old folks in conversation. Overheard some crazy talk…..boy oh boy.

Thanks to Blazingmonk, NickelDime, Jeff, and all those who braved the elements today.

It has to start with a councilman and then to a teacher. We could also include a man and his dog.

Oh wow. this was just embarrassing. Shame on those that use PRAYER to incite such hateful and blasphemous speeches.

I am 100% anti illegal immigration and want strict enforcement, deportation and for our laws to be followed. But how utterly embarrassing as a follower of Christ to watch a “pastor” act in such a manner.

    Shame on him.
