Roger Gitlin "preaches to the choir" (plus Jeff Wilson, Nathan Imhoff, GangFang and yours truly)
A video update on the “Little Bighorn” post from a couple weeks back.
Included in this montage are the most heated moments of the “Save Our State” rally.
UPDATE: Here is the video of the AnswerLA folks when they first marched on the scene. My favorite part is at 1:50 when SCVTalk’s own Petz half-heartedly broadens his sign.
And the chanting that followed:
ND, good job on this video. Aside from the very few (2) crazies, I didn’t see any “radical extremists” asking for anything other than to enforce our laws, the right to organize (legally) and that it should be done everywhere. No one (again after the 2 crazies) seemed to be attacking anyone, just policy. For the most part they all seemed like true Americans to me.
AnswerLA on the other hand didn’t follow the rules, but why should they, [they] broke the law coming here to the US. It’s a slippery slope with many illegals (not all so don’t get all crazy on me – and not just one group, I’ve heard this from an illegal European) and so many feel that because they are here illegally our laws do not apply to them.
One thing that sticks out are all the signs in Spanish. Not well played by AnswerLA, more than 70% (my guestimate) of the people driving by probably wondered were they could “Press 1 for English”.
What’s clear is AnswerLA’s disregard to organize correctly. No permit, scattered by coming and going and clearly not identifying that the dominant language is the SCV is English (but maybe they were focused on reaching just one group).
At least [we] have always been thoughtful enough to provide communication for everyone.
AnswerLA, your uneffective and helping solidify a change in policy. I thank you.
ND, I noticed that as soon as anyone started talking facts you cut to someone else. I’d like to see the director’s cut please.
Truth is some people have not had this much fun since Prop 8.
SCVGuy:
Sure. What you see there is the most confrontational aspects of the interviews (on my part). There was little, if any, antagonism on my part so the vids are very dry (both questions and answers).
So the cuts are partly a reflection of that – I’m embarrassed at my rookie reporting.
Don’t be. You done good. It’s more coverage that I’ve seen from our local paper.
