Hmmm, where are the “tenthers” (the states rights people)?
Shouldn’t they be fighting Texas’ incursion into California state politics and our climate change law?
And of course they should have stopped Utah’s massive funding of Prop H8, right?
Hypocriticallty selective morons, that’s what they are.
And of course they should have stopped Utah’s massive funding of Prop H8, right?
Uh huh. People voted against gay marriage because Mormons spent a bunch of money on advertising. Had nothing to do with people’s convictions about what they considered marriage.
Woo Hoo! Quarter Century!!!!
Thanks for the heads up Jeff. The “causual” group I like to ride with from work wasn’t (and still isn’t) ready for a half-century, but the family fun ride last year was lacking for us…. the Quarter will be PERFECT!
Now, maybe I should think about getting something other than a mountain bike…..
I am bit confused (perhaps stunned is a better word) — you had respect for Paris Hilton and her contributions to society before she drove in the bike lane?? I am drawing a blank for any contributions she made to society.
Spiney, I’m shocked no mention of the poor 94 year old woman suffering with dementia who was raped by an ILLEGAL ALIEN here at a local nursing home?
But it is not a local issue right? Or the fact that Sherriff Baca has no money to run the jails and is practically closing Pitchess North Facility because the Federal Government does not pay the full tab to house ILLEGAL ALIEN Criminals. But it is not a local issue. I hope every one of those released felons winds up next door to you but the reality is they will probably wind up next to me. But it is not a local problem, right?
Go Gauny….
Jerry Brown needs to get a clue. With the budget chaos we are facing, we need someone that has legit business experience making decisions right now, not some academic or career politician.
You could find a rape commited by a space alien if you looked hard enough. One example is meaningless in a country as large as America. It’s easy to lose perspective.
Damnit McKeon, quit already! Santa Clarita and the entire AD deserves better than a mercenary congressman beholden to the military contractors! He can’t even ban a mine. He has no consensus due to his NO on everything votes!
And of course they should have stopped Utah’s massive funding of Prop H8, right?
By the way, out of state opposition to prop. 8 out spent the proponents of prop 8 by millions of dollars. So hypocrisy tends to get spread around evenly.

I am SO with you on this, Leslie! My word, I’m sorry, but self-absorbed/morally corrupt wastoid is all I can come up with for Paris Hilton – even if she didn’t drive in bike lanes!
ND: I have responded to this before but will do so here again. There is no denying we have rapists, criminal drivers, murderers, etc who are born and bred here (think Bundy, McVeigh, Ramírez) . But does that mean that we also need to import criminals because we don’t have enough of our own? I cannot do anything about a potential criminal being born in the USA but I can certainly do something about ILLEGAL ALIENS being here to commit crimes and you can too.
What the hell was he doing working for a nursing home in the first place? Why didn’t the nursing home do a background check? Why didn’t the nursing home check to see if he was legal to employ?
Oh right.
Because they only care about their bottom line and want to hire the cheapest help available.
Berta González-Harper says: “Spiney, I’m shocked no mention of the poor 94 year old woman suffering with dementia who was raped by an ILLEGAL ALIEN here at a local nursing home?

All the posters here say nothing on the subject, but you want to call me out personally?
And you actually put in print that you wish criminals are next door to me?
Wow, what a hateful bitch! Who pissed in your Wheaties this morning?
(sorry, Jeff, I just had to swear at this needless personal attack)
Jeff: your points are all valid but I repeat this ILLEGAL ALIEN had no business being in this country for ANY unscrupulous employer to hire. We can keep blaming everyone BUT those here illegally or we can actually do something to protect taxpayers, little old ladies, children, etc from ILLEGAL CRIMINALS by kicking them out and KEEPING THEM OUT.
Fred, you missed the piont… where are the “tenthers” who clainm to be in this fight purely for state’s rights?
Seems to me that was the same argument the south used to fight anti-slavery, too. Same mentality.
Good point, Jeff, why don’t care facicilities do more background checks? Background checks should be an automatic hiring requirement for people who will be caring for children and the elderly.
…..a retired CHP officer starts searching for a memorial sign his father built for another Newhall CHP officer who died 1950. The sign once hung at the CHP’s Newhall Station but has disappeared……
I remember seeing that sign.
Spiney: you are the one who goes ON and ON about this not being a local problem. You can call me all the names you want but it does not change the facts. You are WRONG. This is a local problem…
Well, time to go, I don’t have time to comment on everything here, either. ;-/ Super Thursday, everyone!
Exactly, Jeff.
The problems of illegal immigration begin in each and every single American’s pocket. We want cheap goods and services, so we have to employ cheap labor. The cheapest labor is the undocumented kind.
The only reason illegals attempt to come here, Berta, is that there is an abundance of employers who are willing and able to hire them. If you ELIMINATE those who would hire them, then you eliminate the desire to come illegally.
Jerry Brown is right on this one. Too many people think they can come into the Governorship like a CEO and direct the process. They are certain to fail as you have to weedle your way around through concensus to get anything done. Some day, the Federal Government will figure that out too.
Jeff, did you really ever have respect for Paris Hilton? I think I just lost some respect for you. ;-x
I thought my comment was clearly facetious. of course I’ve never respected paris hilton hahaha.
Hey everyone cool it off on the comments. Spine do not call other people names.
If you all don’t relax, I will start moderating comments again and you won’t see your’s posted for hours, perhaps even days.
BGH, you must have me confused with another poster. I do not “go ON and ON about this not being a local problem.”
In fact, I have regularly posted that I support tightening up employer sanctions and not allowing another failed amnesty program.
Try to keep up.
Jeff, when I am wrongly called out by name, I will defend myself in an appropriate manner. A personal attack on me was uncalled for (besides being factually incorrect), and the noun I used is actually quite descriptive of the manner of the attack on me, and I stand by it.
DON’T MAKE JEFF TURN THIS CAR AROUND!
I believe Gauny advocates going after employers who use illegal aliens, apartment owners who rent to illegal aliens, and any other person who supports illegal behavior. Nothin’ wrong with that.
Todd: Employers are but one facet of this problem. There are many illegal’s who do not work at all but live off of the government subsidies they receive provided by the taxpayers for their American born children. This issue could be addressed by one of McKeon’s proposals were it to pass. You are right though it probably will go nowhere because of the do nothing Congress and Senate and positions such as you seem to support.
Greedy employers are part of the problem but there are other circumstances just as influencing. The Federal Government does not enforce the borders or implement deportation laws currently in effect. Nevertheless, even if we deport them they just come right back through our porous borders. The Sherriff does not check for legal status or turn over illegal’s to Border Patrol or Immigration. On the other hand, they could take a bus of felons to the Federal Building and drop them off into their custody whether they like it or not. The Feds will not pay for jailing them but insist we keep them. Our President does not demand that their home countries pay the bill for housing them or comes and gets them. Even when the voters decide they do not want welfare etc for illegal’s in California, they still receive benefits. I could go on and on…
Bottom line is the will of the American taxpayer and legal immigrant is being ignored. We pay the bill but have no say on what that money is spent on. Our State and County are nearly bankrupt but still we support people here without legal permission. Moreover, nobody in Washington or Sacramento appears to be listening. Good thing Buck is paying attention now. Perhaps he sees the writing on the wall. Poizner too. I hope so. Maybe something positive will finally happen.
I have been posting here long enough that I do not expect to change anyone’s mind on this blog, but you never know who is reading these posts…

Jerry Brown needs to get a clue”
He never had a clue before, why start now.
How many of the child molesting priests were illegals, Berta?
Get a friggin’ grip, would you?
By and large, illegal immigrants come here for jobs to support their families back home. This is fact.
There are some who defraud the governmental welfare systems, absolutely. The same goes for legals, and for citizens.
Fix the problems that allow anyone to take advantage, and you suddenly lose that impetus to flock in, right?
Brian,
Take your own advice and get a grip. Contrary to what the media outlets I’m sure you frequent have told you, the numbers of priests who harmed children, while incredibly vile and disgusting, was low in comparison to crimes and molestations committed by illegals.
Try not to compare apples to oranges.
