  • Sound the klaxon! Two inmates at the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic escaped early this morning. Deputies think the pair -Jose Aldana & Winder Barrios- planned the escape and “slipped out of the facility around 1:05 am Wednesday.” The pair were being held for armed robbery. The North County facility is the maximum security part of Pitchess. 80 Deputies in patrol cars and helicopters are on the hunt KTLA, KHTS
  • Dave Bossert has posted a “What to do in the event of an Inmate Escape from Pitchess.” WRB
  • No leads and no suspects in violent Newhall shooting. Cops say the Sunday night shooting that injured two men does not appear to be gang related. I thought this was a drive-by, why are they now saying the victims were shot at “point blank” range? SIGNAL
  • All three incumbents were sworn in at last night’s council meeting. And what was supposed to be an uneventful meeting turned strange and sad as a woman told the Council how she found her son dead of a heroin overdose on her driveway in Santa Clarita. I HEART asks the logical question: Does SCV have a heroin problem? SIGNAL, KHTS, I HEART SCV

  • Tweet of the Day: “The Mexican Government has just issued a Travel Advisory recommending Mexicans not to travel to Arizona on business or pleasure,” - Arturo Sarukhan, Mexican Ambassador to the US (ht: Andrew Sullivan)
  • Office vacancies at 29%, a record reports the SIGNAL. And it could rise to 33% by the end of the year.
  • OLPH Church held a meeting with parishoners on Monday that supposedly eased their minds about the brewing controversy over the OLPH school’s new priest. But they kicked the Signal out of the meeting, and refused to answer questions from the Signal later. Talk about a transparency problem. SIGNAL
  • Very high winds today coming in off the Pacific CBS 2, EXAMINER
  • Oh My God we are so screwed. The State has released a new map containing 50 new earthquake faults. And our area is all purple and green and red and stuff. No really. Check it out. QUAKE.CA.GOV, LA TIMES

  • Did anyone see this? The disgraced and quite possibly fraudulent Daniel Henriquez attempted to convince Signal readers of his military and educational bona fides a few weeks ago. Good stuff if you have nothing to do (He is AVTaxman) SIGNAL

Hrm i’m being a little nitpicky but David isn’t saying what to do as much as reposting what the sheriff have said to do.

Normally i don’t care when people copy and paste important information but i get a little miffed when they don’t even bother to take the time to format it correctly. His list is a bit messed up.

The topic of heroin as a prevelant drug in the SCV was a topic of discussion at Action counseling last night. Each and every drug you have heard of, and some you have not are available for your children in this valley. Do not be naive, I was.

Hey Jeff. The Newhall shooting incident must not have been very environmentally friendly since there were no “leeds”. ;-0

No “leeds”: Referencing the fact that matresses with prices that can’t be beat weren’t a motive? :)

Sound the Klaxon? The “Ghetto Birds” did at 6 this morning! No need for them (TV copters) to hover around so long at such low altitude when they have lenses that can see for miles what is going on. Gain some altitude and stay off the top of residential areas! Guess I’m cranky from the rude wake up.

I am 100% OK with a “rude wake up” from law enforcement doing their job, beats a “rude wake up” of one of the escapees wandering into my kitchen. In addition to the benefit of searching the copters over head let me know there is something I should be alerted to so I can drive the kids to school rather than have them walk the couple blocks, check my windows etc.

      Keep flying ghetto birds!

Wow that is a lot of exclamation marks. I saw zero TV copters this morning, only police copters. Maybe you live in a more interesting part of Castaic :-)

Ambassador Sarukhan’s travel advisory to the USA appeares to have inadventently exclude immigrants who illegally enter this country. Yup, just forgot to mention THAT one.

So how do Mexican authorities treat Americans who are in Mexico illegally?

Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

    • Whiskey Tango Foxtrot says:

Interesting Q. spineflower. I have to wonder why an American would illegally enter into Mexico in the first place (absent the “running from the law” scenerio. I do know for certain that if you are coming into Mexico from the Guatemala end of the world – not a pretty picture for those “indocumentados” who are caught. Mexico insists (rightfully so, I might add) on aggressively enforcing it’s immigration laws but harshly criticizes the USA for attempting to do the same.
