4th of July in my hometown

The Fourth of July is only a few weeks away. Along with the parade there are a number of other events and I’m pleased the fireworks show is on once again:

Hey why not do the smart thing and avoid the traffic and parking nightmares (which are truly epic) all together? If you live in Valencia or even Newhall, North Valencia or Saugus, it’s easy to hop on a bus, ride your bike or even walk to the mall on the paseo and path system. Harder to carry chairs and other party supplies, but declaring Independence from the British was no easy task either, now was it?

So do what our Founding Fathers would have done: walk, ride, or take public transit to Westfield Town Center on July 4!

And no vuvezelas at the fireworks shows, ok? I think I’ll really be sick of them by then.

Sorry Jeff, lugging three kids, beach chairs to the mall for good seats and then lugging them back in the dark is not a fun idea for my wife and I. We will drive the truck there and park and then drive home when it is over.

Just kidding. Hope you have a good time.

Anyone looking for some fun on Saturday night (and a double dose of fireworks) should join us out in the Antelope Valley for Redline Time Attack’s Liberty Grand Prix.

Sports car racing by day, GT racing by evening, Street Legal 1000′ drags by night and the only fireworks show on Saturday night north of the SFV.

(I’m the announcer, so you get to hear my dulcet tones too!)

We usually have a BIG BBQ and invite way too many people (judging by what a mess I am at the end of the evening). Our backyard faces Magic Mtn so we have a perfect view of their show and a pretty decent one of the city’s (and Stevenson Ranch too).

No walk, no ride, no drive, just clean up the mess.

Taking this year off and attending a party at a friend’s. I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself all day..and the day before…and the day before that…hmmm…I’ll think of something. Maybe I’ll go early to the parade…

    Everybody have a good one!

Working the Parade from 6:30 AM to noon, lunch at the Elk’s Lodge and dinner and fireworks on the patio at Origami. I’m glad Monday is a holiday!
