Today The Signal published a story by Johnathan Randles on the Summit Seals swim team controversy, a story that SCVTalk readers first heard about some weeks ago.
The story contains only two new items not yet known by SCVTalk readers; one relating to the story and one of delicious irony, at least to me.
SCVTalk readers will recall that the Stratford HOA asked the swim team to obtain additional insurance coverage rasing limits from $1 million to $5 million, which the Seals acquired. (We will all lose our homes because of a terrible swim accident! Everybody run!) Like all good local obstructionists (News Flash: They thought the $5 million would be unobtainable!) in the Cam Noltemeyer/Lynne Plambeck mode, the Stratford HOA now wants $20 million in insurance coverage; an amount the Seals can probably not obtain at ANY cost. (Compare that the ENTIRE Boy Scouts of America has insurance coverage of $15 million per occurrence.)
The additional irony? The article quotes Bill Reynolds and reveals he is a retired facilities manager for Lockheed Martin, august defense contractor, once again confirming the “truth” that the louder the Tea Partier the more likely they derived their living from a direct government job or from a company that primarily sucked from the government teat!
Now a teaser: The Summit Seals have exercised somewhat of a local nuclear option in terms of their battle with the Stratford HOA, which I can hopefully reveal later today. Suffice it to say the Stratford board members now have something legitimate to worry about!
TEASER REVEALED!!!!
After speaking with several board members of the Summit Seals at a swim meet at Old Orchard I this morning I was authorized to reveal that they have managed to pull off the local legal nuclear option. HUNT BRALY, local legal and political titan, has agreed to represent the Seals PRO BONO in any issues with the Summit and/or Stratford HOA. When Hunt goes up against the hourly ham and egger attorney representing the Stratford Board, I predict a similar outcome to the New York Yankees vs. the Baltimore Orioles.
So Stratford Board members, be afraid, be very afraid!

So for clarification sake: Are you saying employees of Lockheed Martin and the LAUSD/teacher unions are one and the same?
LOL I was laughing so hard at the Lockheed Martin comment I almost peed my pants!
How about we make it a law that ANYONE that earns their living off the government teet is not allowed to vote or have an opinion? I am all for that!
I always thought that Lockheed Martin was an American success story? And something that we as Americans should be proud of? I guess not!
JA:
The people with a certain level of education got the joke. Don’t feel bad!
No Fred!
Everyone knows that all school teachers are vampires (and not the handsome kind like in Twilight) that want to sell our children into white slavery.
Everyone also knows that Lockheed Martin employees are all about providing kitty cats, puppies and cotton candy for everyone!!!
Huh?
That was a bizarre response.
You seem to suggest in your post that the reason why this Bill fellow is being petty about kids hogging up the pool is because he is a TEA partier who once had a government job at Skunk Works (which by the way, I happen to know a lot of retirees from there, a few that even spent time at Area 51). I took that to mean you saw some hypocrisy with his government job and being a TEA party activist and now a shrill critic of the swim team. But such a connection to government jobs made me wonder about the education union hacks, their shrillness with wanting no lay offs. I am just curious if you understood them to be one and the same as far as importance and contribution to the overall good of American society.
Oh don’t expect him to justify his comment. The liberal response usually has a comment on your education and that you were not cool in school (having seen pictures of tim I understand his hate of the “cool” people).
Tim will run away from this like he does his 16-17th and 129th wrong prediction. A legend in his own mind.
Famous Myers predictions:
GAUNEY will win-lose-win-lose-win-lose-win-win-win-lose-win and LOSE
OBAMA will be a great president
STIMULUS will work and get people back to work (hey it was just a trillion dollar failure)
HEALTHCARE bill will be great and lower healthcare costs (anyone with a 4th grade education knows that is not true now)
BARNEY FRANK is not gay (in all fairness to tim he did fool 3 other people)
And My favorite…… The Gores marriage will last forever!
With a record like that how can you not take him serious????
I wonder what Jeff’s opinion on our Kenyan Wonder Boys fight in court that the Healthcare Bill IS a tax after saying for 9 months that it was not?
Come on Jeff give us your take. Should be pretty funny
http://spectator.org/blog/2010/06/17/obama-admin-argues-in-court-th
Is that crickets I hear?
birther?
Way to stay on topic! Concentrate little man and you can get through the day
I would ask Nate for his take on this but we all know the kind of answer we would get. So why waste all our time?
Wow… I really never thought he was a birther. It explains everything though.
Is that crickets I hear?
Greetings! Here you go again! If you have a different opinion, then you are demonized and personally attacked. Instead of believing the Signal’s lopsided article, I suggest that you seek facts before posting erroneous information; try making a few phone calls to both sides of this issue before posting your daily briefs. When I offered to meet with you a few weeks ago, you declined (and so did Tim Myers). Clearly, you are in league with the Signal’s style of reporting.
For the record, I am a proud American and a proud patriot! Yes, indeed… I proudly served my country in a combat role (infantry) fighting communism during the Vietnam War and afterwards I was fortunate to gain employment and spend a long career at a private corporation, Lockheed Martin’s famous Skunk Works division. The Skunk Works has provided America the most advanced and efficent weapons systems for our military to protect our freedom and our way of life.
So yes, I am a PROUD AMERICAN PATRIOT & TEA PARTY MEMBER!
Thanks… two peas in a pod.
Bill:
We all know about your military service and for that we owe you our gratitude. But it still makes it somewhat shocking that you would sign on with a middle aged mama’s boy like “Kev.”
Timmy, get your facts straight for a change. I have not signed on with anyone… in fact I “signed off” being part of any organized function. You really should do your homework, but that’s probably a difficult proposition working from within the Soylent Green Factory, eh, Timmy.
You were quoted in the article Bill. Don’t want the heat, don’t provide quotes to the media.
So you trust the media, eh Timmy? What I told Randles was not accurately reported, but I know you don’t care about factual reporting Timmy… otherwise you would have met with me to hear my side of the story. But alas, you declined.
That’s perfect Tim. Bill finds his true meaning in life as a vet, and the military is of course funded by the tax payer funded. Then he works at Lockheed which gets most of its work from the government and the taxpayer, and now he’s retired probably getting social security and medicare.
Yeah he’s a real tea party guy, wants all the government hand outs he can get without paying for any of them.
Did you ever actually work in the true private sector Bill? Where you had to compete in the marketplace?
It may be helpful for you to know what you are talking about with how the aerospace industry, the military, and government work before you accuse him of being a government hack.
Bill had always aspired to be a socialist.
How petty (and revealing of bias) of Tim to take an undeserved shot at Cam Noltemeyer and Lynne Plambeck on a completely unrelated topic.
Is this a news blog or a guest attack column?
SF2:
Cam and Lynn would take that as a compliment!
Cam Noltemeyer was on the HOA board and worked with Bill to shut down the swim team before she was recalled from the board. It’s very related.
Hay “socalled real vet”, you are shootin’ spitwads and have no clue what you are talkin’ about. it’s very related – ha!
Bill Reynolds is not the owner of the Stratford home, it belongs to his mom. That says a lot right there.
Kelly, Kelly, Kelly… I don’t live in the Stratford Collection; I do not own a home there, nor does my mother. Are you Tim Myers’ daughter? Haha!
Kelly:
It is so complex that you need a scorecard to keep track of the players. You are referring to the President of the Stratford HOA (Kevin Jaglieo) whose residence is allegedly owned by his mother. He is also 36 years old and unmarried. And then he wonders why people are upset that he was videotaping children by stealth in a parking lot at a community pool!
Dear Kelly, as I told you… Tim Myers cannot be counted on for accurate information. Though I figured Kevin Jaglieo was definitely a young man I sure found it hard to believe that he was only 36 years old so I asked him. Kevin is about the same age as Timmy; Kevin is married and he does own his own home in the Stratford Collection, plus he owns another home in the Summit. He said his Mom is very grateful to him for that home.
His mom’s name is on the title, not Kevin’s
Thank you for clarifying, Tim.
I am a not Tim’s son or daughter, Bill. I am delighted that the Summit Seals have a top notch attorney on their side. The swim season is 6 weeks, not three or four months.
Kelly:
I would be honored if you were my fourth daughter. You seem to have a good head on your shoulders.
Kelly, I was just kidding… but it does go to show how much misinformation is out there regarding this mess. Be aware that Tim Myers receives all of his information on hearsay and it’s not always correct. He doesn’t live in the Summit and his only connection to this is that he is a liberal who believes entitlements are perfectly fine. I believe the crux of this problem lies with favoritism, which always begets dissension.
Hey Bill,
I just saw a kid at the mall holding some candy, maybe if you hurry you can push her down and take it.
Little Natie, you are a goof ball. Ha!
I own you.
Oh yeah, leys meet face to face, wimp. Ha!
Thank you, Bill, there is a ton of misinformation out there.
Thank you, Tim re.the 4th Daughter and Happy Father’s Day to all of you!
Bill, if you truly wish to set the record straight, then why not do it here? In what way have you been misquoted? And why would anyone wish to meet with you only to have you come back and say that you’ve been misquoted “again.” If you have some “facts” that support your position on the swim team issue, let them be known here. Otherwise, spare us the whining about being “demonized.”
ReaderMama, I have attempted to post certain comments, but Master Blogger won’t permit you to see things I’ve written. I don’t expect to get a fair shake on this blog nor in The Signal. However, I do have a piece in the works that will be posted elsewhere soon. I don’t care what you think about my “whining” as you have not received accurate reporting by Tim Myers or Jonathon Randles.
Bill is always the victim.
And No Jeff doesn’t block comments, if a comment triggers a spam flag it won’t post till he can look at it and determine it to be a real comment.
Quit bullshitting Bill and set the damn record straight.
The West Ranch Beacon has become the refuge of birthers and racists. You will fit in just fine.
Hey Nickle, please explain… how could I possibly “cross the line” on this liberal blog? What statement of mine was inappropriate? I do not use cuss words like little Natie.
You got a problem with that Bonnie?
Yeah, little Natie… lets meet face to face. Ha!
Will you wear you Liberal purple hearts?
Is it safe to assume by your silence that you believe our president was born in Kenya?
Funny I consider myself a mexican and I was born in Long Beach? My Father was born in El Monte
I am Mexican right ?
I know you will be happy when school starts again. Then you will have a couple of people you can beat in a debate. (when are you moving up to 5th-6th graders? It’s not fair beating up on the 4th graders all the time. You must really need a W)
Oh so you are a person who only focuses only race, doesn’t that make you racist. Let me bring it down to your level troglodyte homunculus… Was President Obama born in Hawaii, Yes or No?
Neither of us know? I do know one thing. He has never lived in Connecticut. Yet his SS# is a Connecticut number. I was wondering why a great investigator has not tried to find out how that could happen? Get your best man right on that and see what you come up with.
I know you have never even heard about this before so here is my helping hand.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=obama+has+connecticut+social+security+number&cts=1277253174663&aq=0&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=Obama+has+connecticut&gs_rfai=
It’s like a self incriminating comment.
Bill, you have no credibility, you keep saying there is lopsided news articles, misinformation, bad reporting, but when you are asked a question about a specific issues about your oppostion to swim team and your Support of the Strafford board you refuse to answer it on this or another blog… Bill answer the questions….
Hey truth trooper, what do you want to know. By the way another of my comments here was blocked again.
Here are the questions
1.You say that the Seals Swim team has entitlements by getting the pool use for free, doesn’t Strafford Board use the clubhouse for free for their meetings and isn’t that an entitlement to them?
2. Aren’t all the swim team member’s homeowners that can use the pool facility at any time for as long as they want without a contract?
3. The part of the CCR’s you have been quoted as proof that the swim team cannot operate has nothing has nothing to do with the swim team using the facility. What other section can you refer to? That section in the CCR’s has nothing to do with swim team using the facility. A non-exclusive easement means that you, as the property owner, have the right to sell access to the easement to other parties. With a non-exclusive easement, only the people listed on the easement deed are currently allowed access. An easement that is “non-exclusive” is simply is an easement that someone else may also use.
4. You have continuously mentioned that the kids diving in a shallow pool during meets or practice is dangerous, can you show us one study that indicates what you are saying is not just hearsay?. I have checked the CDC and did a search; there is not one single incident of someone having a diving accident during a swim meet or practice.
5. Is it not true that you and Cam were bent on stopping the swim team in any way from the first day you came on the Summit board? That other board members offered to meet with you and cam and you refused in regards to the swim team issues?
6. Is it true that you secretly met with the Strafford board to plan strategies of how to stop the swim team?
7. Isn’t true that there is wide support from the Summit community for the swim team, in the last election the 3 pro swim team candidates defeated your anti swim team candidates by a 2-1 margin? Also in the recall of Cam she was soundly defeated by a 66% yes vote?
8. You keep saying you are not opposed to swim team, but you do not want them to use the pool, you do not want them to dive, you do not want them to hold meets, how does a swim team operate if they can’t do any of those?
9. How much insurance is enough for the swim team? 20 million? 30 million?
10. What is the big deal for the Seals to use one pool for 4 hours per day when there are 3 other pools avaliable? and Strafford has 3 of its own pools too.
Trurth Trooper, I will gladly meet you to discuss all of this. Name the place and time.
Bill, why not answer the questions here where others want the answers too. What is the deal with meetigng people in private, this is a perfect opportunity for you to set the record straight since you feel everyone else has lopsided articles, misinformation and slanted views. You asked what I wanted to know, I gave you a list, now you back down. If you have the facts, just answer the question.
Truth Trooper, why are you afraid to meet? Believe me, I also have many questions for you.
Bill is unable to answer questions publicly, it doesn’t afford him the ability to play the victim.
Bill, we all know you put together websites why don’t you put together a response and provide us a link then no one will be able to “censor” you. Then scvtalk isn’t responsible for any inappropriate libel you might sling.
or
Publish your response with David Bossert he has no problem publishing libel and like you, he hate people, especially children.
Just be careful what you say…
I will say whatever I damn well please.
America, Constitution blah blah, Patriot, blah, blah Founding Fathers, blah blah remember all that… Teabagger.
I would welcome your uncensored view, Bill Reynolds, especially regarding “favoritism” of the swim team. It’s open to all children 16 years and younger including residents and renters of the HOA. Is the favoritism pertain to those without children? All amenities might considered some form of favoritism, tennis courts for those who play tennis, gym equipment for gym users, etc., etc.
The request for 20 million in liability insurance really stretches the limits of reasonableness when viewed within the context of insurance actuarial tables and carrier recommendations for this type of program.
I wonder how much insurance the City of Santa Clarita has for the Aquatic Center with its variety of unique hazards including the water park and elevated diving boards, not to mention the ongoing use by swimmers of all abilities and ages?
Even of more import, this issue is so divisive to a lovely community, that is the real loss in all of this.
Finally, it begs the question that might all this angst and energy be better expended to deal with the hospital buildout that is occurring on the Summit’s borders? That would on balance appear to be a greater impact on the quality of life for all the residents of this HOA.
Bill, does not answer the questions on here because he has no logical answers, if he meets with one person at a time he can always deny he said anything or say they misunderstood. Have some conviction man, if you trully belive in what you stand for say it here.
Kelly, I would be happy to meet with you to discuss these issues. As for continuing to lay out my opinions here, well it’s a waste of time. There are too many commenters here who twist what you say and there are a few who simply cannot accept the truth.
For the record, I simply resigned from the Summit Board and was minding my own business when suddenly this blog began running my name into the mud. Then Tim Myers piled on with his Sunday Signal column. Then Signal reportor Randles posted an inaccurate article in the Signal last Saturday. I did not make this a public issue and all I have done is my level best to explain my positions and protect my name and reputation, but none of that matters here…
Again, I’m off the board and I have no influence with any parties involved and as far as I know, things may be resolved already… I’ve seen the kids swimming and diving, etc. So, I’m not really gettin’ the beef, though more insurance clarity may be required to put this whole mess to bed. Stand by, I will be slammed shortly for making these comments.
Sincerely…
You are pathetic.
You are an idiot!
Bill, the only mess that exist is the one you began, you are to blame for this mess, dont’ play victim here.
Okay, thanks for the offer to meet, Bill, I appreciate it and will consider it. Maybe we can meet at Championships at Valencia Hills on July 17th? Everyone is welcome to visit and see the joy, teamwork, and athleticism of our children. Well, except that creepy guy with the videocamera!!!
yeah Bill, I will meet you there too…
Just a lurker in this debate, I have a friend that has children that swim on OOII in the same league who alerted me to this situation. They are appalled by what is going on as am I. Mr. Reynolds you have had ample opportunity to answer direct questions posed to you here and on other threads yet instead, IMO you have offered up nothing. You even wrote your own unedited post on this matter. What else do you expect? When you are posed direct questions you want to talk one on one. Why can’t you just simply answer the questions? If the answers are honest and make sense they won’t be twisted into something else. Why waste time meeting and speaking to you for answers that could be simply answered in text for several people at a time? An ex-SCV resident, I have shared this issue with friends and all find the actions of the swim team detractors pathetic. Your continuing arguments against the team only makes you even more laughable. Just as a note – Insurance coverage for USA swim teams is just over 5 million for the whole year (not a 6 week summer program) and many of those teams have several hundred swimmers. Also unlike the seals, swimmers aren’t made to sign any releases. The insurance issue is a front to try to stop the team. Only a few minutes of looking up insurance information confirmed my suspicion that the amount requested by the Board was unreasonable. Frankly, I think the team should just use the pool despite you and the other selfish residents permissions since according to what I have seen of the CCR, they have every right to use the facility. In some summer leagues, the teams do not even offer one of the lanes for usage by other homeowners but yet those HOAs don’t seem to have the desire control issues regarding the enjoyment of facilities by their fellow residents. Enough of the nonsense, let the kids swim.
Lurker, well said man.
Wah Wah Wah…. poor me, everyone misquotes me, everyone is against me, does anyone want to meet me for coffee, please anyone at all… anyone? Bill R.
HAHA
I too would like to see the answers to Truth Squads questions answered here where we can all see the answers.
Kelly, I will be out of town at that time next , but I can meet you almost at anytime at our main pool.
Who are you Truth Trooper and what is your stake in this? Do you even live at the Summit? Obviously you don’t have guts enough to meet face to face.
Bill, what will a meeting between us do? What will you accomplish that you can’t accomplish here? All you have to do is answer questions that everyone wants to know, meeting with me or any one person on an idividual basis will not accomplish much, what are you so afraid of?
Bill do you have enough guts to answer the questions? It comes across that you are afraid to answer the questions. You seem to have only one response anymore, meet me personally unless your a coward. Your starting to sound like a movie version of a screwed up vet and your giving veterans a bad name What are you so afraid of? Answer the questions or leave the conversation.
There is some level of resolution in the fact that the Seals are swimming this season. The whole sad episode just seems so, so unnecessary. What was accomplished besides billable hours for attorneys, bad blood among neighbors, and fattening insurance company profits??
Kelly, you are correct… too many $$’s have been spent, in my opinion unneccessarily, when thoughtful people should have been able to resolve their differences. It is a sad time for community.
Real Vet, who the heck are you and what is your stake in this? Do you even live in the Summit? Same for you Truth Trooper! How many are in your stupid little squad, hmmm? Haha!
YES, I live in the Summit, and all this was caused by you and Cam, all the wasted money and time was becasue of YOU Bill, no one else, look in the miror.
Mr. Reynolds,
Just curious, if you no longer have influence as you claim, why are you questioning the motivations or stake of other posters here? Is name-calling the way you encourage discourse and community? It appears you have no interest in resolving this issue as all you are doing is inflaming it – Do you not see this? Yes, many of the other posters here have also been less than pleasant with you, but I don’t even know you and I find myself biting my tongue based on your rational to oppose this team. They are children and families that represent their neighborhood do you honestly believe that they would willingly jeapordize their own welfare and interest of their community? Does it not strike you as odd that across the country HOAs embrace and support swim teams in their communities? Does it bother you that your community is becoming a joke to other communities?
Lurker, I did not make this a public issue. My name was ran thru the mud and those who did so never bothered to get my position on any related matters. All I have done here, in response, is attempt to explain my purpose for resigning from the Summit HOA and express my opinions regarding the Seals. I’m entitled to my opinions. Many who continue harasssing me here have no involvement in the Summit community nor do they live here. In fact, I believe they relish in making our community look bad.
And yes, this entire episode taints our community and that is truly a shame. The blame for that lays at the feet of a few radical elements in our community.
I have previously expressed my rational and I’m not doing it again here. Also previously stated, I resigned – I have no influence over either party – maybe the issues are resolved now as I see the kids swimming and diving. What else I can I help you with?
The irony of NotAFerryFan whining about his name being ran thru the mud… you act like you had a good reputation before all this.
I’ve read a lot of the commentary and articles Bill. It seems the swim team has existed and been a popular and successful program for over twenty years. Other HOAs have swim teams as well. The change came when you and Cam Noltemeyer got on the HOA board.
So it does appear you are correct. The blames lies at the feet of a few radical elements in the community. Which is clearly you and Cam.
Hey Mister, feel free to explain how exactly you consider yourself a real vet. And what’s at stake for you here? Do you reside in the Summit?
Mr. Reynolds,
I’ve read your rationale, what I see is someone who doesn’t want his rights imposed on but will not hesitate imposing on the rights of others in his own community because you feel inconvenienced. If the pool is heavily used by the swim team, that means there are lots of your neighbors enjoying the assets of your community. Once again, why would they engage in behavior that would put themselves at risk? I also just want to know why with all of the additional information provided that you remain critical of the swim team? It isn’t your opinion that matters, you can have any opinion you wish, it is that when you have an uninformed opinion and use it in a position of power that will get you a nasty reputation. You really should have done your homework, looked at other HOAs, comparable insurance rates, policies and contracts, and surveyed the homeowners before you decided to challenge an institution in your community. You may have realized that your expectations are not the norm for HOA swim teams in SCV or in California for that matter. Had you done this, you could have intelligently answered many of the questions posed and not become the object of ire.
Lurker, I was required to vote on the swim team contract in Jan ’09… I had questions regarding our CC&R’s and Pool Use Rules. When I asked them in a public setting, you would have thought I had just assualted the Tooth Fairy. At one meeting a swim team advocate stood up and told senior citizens that you old people should move to retirement communities.
Now let me ask you question, have you reviewed the new Philadelphia Insurance Policy, if so maybe you could explain Page 74. I’m not an insurance expert, but that policy looks questionable as it pertains to swim team activities. Maybe that’s still the rub?
Hey Bill move to a retirement home and leave the kids alone.
Mr. Reynolds,
I just read your new post. If the rub is the insurance, then it should be made clear to the team by the HOA exactly why. If they are indeed sufficiently insured for 5 mill as they state than that issue regarding insurance should be moot. Actions of the past, although frustrating, should not be the basis for decisions against the team today. As I mentioned earlier, homework needs to be done to have a reasonable conversation. If the expectations for this team were congruent with other local HOAs as far as those items I mentioned, I believe that there would have been a different response. (ie. We have an issue with _____HOA swim team X is doing this to take care of this issue, we would like you do the same) But nothing you have said indicates that sufficient research was done and your new post still characterizes your opponents as radical and extreme with no indication as to why their position is so – although you insinuate that they are threatening fellow residents and I can’t speak to that. Without referring to the past, what is it that this team is asking for or expecting that is different from other HOA teams locally which makes them unreasonable?
Lurker, my post on WRB was accurate, however here’s the deal: I resigned and so I am not involved in this dispute. I have simply posted comments because my name was used in a public way which I did not appreciate. Whatever issues remain, if there are any, lies between the two boards. If you need more info, I suggest attending tomorrow night’s Summit Board meeting if you are a homeowner here, or contact the Stratford Board.
I’m just trying to get back to my personal hobbies after a long tour of duty on the HOA. Despite the numerous nasty remarks made here about me, I am indeed a very happy man and I’m delighted to have contributed to our HOA by overseeing numerous rec ctr renovations. I do not harm others and I especially do not push little girls down at the Mall and take their candy as Little Natie suggested in an earlier post.
Have a nice summer…
WILLBURRRRRR!!!!!!!!!
oooh, things must be really crazy over there in the Soylent Green Factory, eh Little Timmy. Ha!
