The clouds lingered a bit today, the breeze tempered an otherwise warm day… then at about 7:25pm PDT, this hit:
I haven’t lived in SCV long enough to get the proper local perspective, but as a native southern Californian, I can say the weather this year (and notably this season) has shown more surprises than usual. If memory serves, it has been at least a decade or two since there were monsoon conditions in July.
Just when you thought the mild July 4 was in the rear view… so is this Spring’s last gasp, or just another 2010 abnormality?

This is not at all unusual, but usually happens later in the summer when the desert has its monsoon season, and we get some spillover.
But from the frenzy, I half expected another STORM WATCH 2010!!! news flash on TV. Sheesh!
No, just a little early, just as the June Gloom was a couple of weeks late in departing.
Everyone freaks at summer rain, yet it happens darn near every year! It’s a SoCal tradition– claiming the weather is unlike anything seen before!
Must be our poor short-term memory. Vote for Proposition 19.
I’m loving having some clouds to gaze at.
I love it
