Of all the things to take over from the County

Forget the library system, why doesn’t the City establish its own police force, recruit some homicide detectives, and make some progress on the ever-growing list of unsolved murders?

I know, I know. I’m besmirching the professionals in the LASD by merely bringing this up. And I have unreasonable expectations formed by years of watching one hour cop dramas on TV. How dare I suggest that anyone in authority has forgotten about our murder victims? Don’t I know how hard and expensive it would be to establish a local police force?

And yet, I don’t care. Because there is no justice for those murdered in the SCV and the resources we depend on to solve major crimes are shared with everyone else in Los Angeles County.

Obviously I’m speaking out of frustration, but someone’s gotta say it.

A City sponsered police force takes lots of $$$$$$$. Just think of the Pensions alone, not to mention the lawsuits for beating down those pot growers and bike riders. No thanks. I like the job the Sheriff department is doing and it enables the City to adjust the size needed without the added expense of recruitment and training.

As for the Library system, it’s just another dumb monument to the current Council.

Again, the murder at Lyons and Apple. Broad daylight. At a red light. Lots of witnesses. Yet the ONLY description the Sheriff’s department released was that the suspects were seen driving away in a dark SUV. You mean no one got even a partial of the license plate? How about more information about the vehicle?

And if I remember correctly, wasn’t there a string of rapes or attempted rapes in the SCV a year or so ago? One of the victims was so frustrated with the SCV Sheriff’s department for not releasing a sketch of the suspect that she went to a local news station and only then did our Sheriff’s department release a sketch. And I think they found the guy not long after that.

Is Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson (Kyra Sedgwick) available? (Not to work on these cases, but is she available?)

The city wants to take over the libraries so they can control what books are on the shelves. Can you imaging Frank Ferry or Bob Keller pushing their agenda this way?

No time to find murderers, rapists, etc.,

We neeed to keep focus on the important things like the War on Drugs. Once we win the War on Drugs, we can focus on catching murderers.

    Priorities.

How many SCV LASD personnel are assigned to combating drugs and how many are assigned murder cases?
