Live from the Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear!

Hello from Washington DC!

Today I’ll be live blogging from the Washington DC as an expected crowd of tens of thousands (perhaps even over 100,000) people descend on the National Mall to rally for sanity.

The event promises to be a little crazy and perhaps fun. I’ll be liveblogging on Twitter, but if you don’t have an account, don’t worry – you can see all my posts (along with questions directed at me) by watching the stream below. No need to refresh your browser page either.

I watched the whole thing and I saw 10-15 in the whole crowd. Now maybe the cameramen were racist teabaggers and did not want to show them? But at best blacks-Hispanics were 1% of the crowd

Maybe you can provide a video or series of pictures to show me I am wrong?

a republican latino whining there are two many white people at a rally is hilarious! You can eat the irony with a spoon.

Obviously by his silence he has no point… But what else is new? Not the first nor the last time “John Adams” would be pointless.

            Nate,

You really do not get it, do you? I keep having to remind mysel that you are on the “thimble rule” when it comes to politics.

Just what do you invision for Obama’s last 2 years?

Republicans are going to apply pressure every single day for the next 2 years. Repeal healthcare first. The senate will be fun to watch debate because after Harry Reid is blown out on Tues (and he is DONE!) what liberal is going to risk their career for that piece of shit healthcare law?

Let Bammy try and stop it and the GOP will pick up another 2 million votes.

Bammy’s career is done on Nov 3rd. He will forever be known as Barak O’Carter

Health Reform will not move…. Give it up you lost.

Republican may get the house, the senate is highly unlikely.

Republicans winning now will will ensure wins in 2012 just like 1996. When things stop moving all together who is going to be blamed? Tea party will be done after the few candidates they got fall right in line with the Republican agenda and discredit and undermine their entire movement… Enjoy winning back the few seats democrats had no business winning 2006.

You are really grandstanding some pretty insignificant battle victories. Democrats are going to winning this war…

It’s unfortunate that conservative politicians are decieving the American public on health care reform. Most Americans won’t know they’ll be screwed until ‘after they get sick’.

Time will show that the large sums of money going to republican politicians like John Kyle of Arizoza whose taken in over $1 million dollars from the health care industry to ‘oppose’ health care reform and I guess endorse the highly paid CEOs like Stephem Hemsley that takes about $100 million in ‘stock options’ each year as his companies deny ‘sick’ policy holders coverage.

Time for Americans to see through the conservative nonsense before it’s too late . . .

Remember, ‘think before you vote’ or you could be voting against your own best interest.

Only Jeff Wilson could decry Roger Gitlin and his patriot rally and then travel thousands of miles to attend a rally hosted by a Fatwah endorsing Pop star in the name of sanity.

I find it amazing that an event put on by Comedy Central can generate so much fear and negativity from our ‘right’ friends. Understanding satire, parody, and irony is a trait of higher human intelligence. If you didn’t get it, well…One can only hope you’ll someday grow a sense of humor.

Unfortunately every new generation has its moments of clarity in revisiting history only to ignore it and attempt to reinvent the wheel, politically and socially speaking.

To the “Constitutionalists”: The constitution is a framework for government, and not a rule of law in and of itself. Just because something isn’t IN the constitution doesn’t make it unconstitutional. If you truly knew what you were talking about you’d study the cases and rulings that were BASED on the constitution. Geez, take a political science class at COC, won’t you?

To the far right: You’re all crazy!

To the far left: You’re all crazy!

Youtube and Google are not valid news sources.

The only REAL news on any cable news network are the briefs at the top of the hour of actual things around the world that ACTUALLY happened. The other 23 hours and 56 minutes is filled with subjective opinion, and that’s from both sides.

Say what you will about the rally. Politicize it if you will, make pointless political points on both sides that had absolutely nothing to do with the content or message the rally was attempting to convey, but you can’t deny Stewart’s stirring speech at the end. If you take away anything other than the fact that he challenged EVERY American to use common sense with themselves and each other (which makes sense to me), then you really weren’t watching or listening.

That’s the attitude. Make the process more like a sport. My “team” can beat your “team”, and when we “win” you will be the loser. How does this actually change things? Not sure, but I am the WINNER. And I feel tough. For today, at least, my chest puffs out and I’m proud to be on the right “team”.

      I WIN,
      YOU LOSE.

Shut down the government and start impeachment against our president? Study your history and let us know how that worked out the first time. I recall that many Republican heads rolled in their own scandals.
