I can’t wait for the Round-about. They are great, but for SCV it should prove to be hilarious at rush hour. I wonder if the same guy who planned this also planned the back in parking spaces. LOL
There’s a round-about at the mall. I think the SCV soccer moms are pretty used to it by now.
Roundabouts in the Creekside development across from Northbridge too.
Castaic too they are great.
Great entertainment, that is! Just watch the fun when a big rig tries to go through it, blocking both lanes and backing up traffic to the too-close traffic lights. This was a downtown Caltrans experiment and they didn’t take “hell no” for an answer from the locals.
I’m not worried about the soccor moms. I’m worried about the angry commuting nation.
Just another reason for me not to go to Newhall.
Emissions are not just a result of SCV residents commuting outside the SCV to work, but also non-SCV residents commuting to jobs HERE. Newhall Pass is full both directions now, as the box stores and other min-wage jobs we so proudly create here worsen the mismatch of income and housing, requiring out-of-SCV workers to fill those jobs.
The first person killed on the first roundabout was the guy who designed it. Just saying. Brown can’t cut off stupid spending fast enough. Maybe we need a state budget roundabout.
Hahaha! Excellent, Joe G!
Huge fan of roundabouts, should be good.
My pops is in the music business, and records being made at home or in small studios is the norm. Gone are the days of spending ridiculous amounts of records, save the “huge” artists – whose records sound horrible compared to many of the home brew types. His particular speciality has thankfully remained steady, but lots of the major recording studios have closed, severely downsized, or turned to selling cocaine to idiots.
In my past life, I was a Pro Tools certified “Expert” and I would go help set up the digital recording systems for recording artists…. and it was just about anywhere and everywhere that you could think of. Strip malls in the Valley, apartments in Long Beach, or even palatial beach houses in Malibu. I think in all time time I was doing it…. I might have been in a dozen or so traditional recording studios.
On the Harvard student, I am now convinced law enforcement picked up the first black person they found in the area so we are looking at a DWB.
I didn’t know the 21 y/o was black, but I did wonder why they arrested this young man if he was only driving by (in a different car) the scene many hours later?
It’s not the first case of DWB, nor (unfortunately) the last.
Tim Sr.,
The police are not releasing a great deal of information regarding this investigation. For you to now proclaim this a case of “Driving While Black” suggests that you may have inside information on this case other than what has been released in the press. If so, I’ll be open to any information you have.
If however you formed this opinion on a “feeling” you may have, I’m going to call you out on that. Race issues are emotional and sensitive topics that don’t need the flames to be fanned by someone who knows NOTHING about the case. Again, I’ll eat my hat on this if you can prove me wrong. Show me (us) your cards Tim and shut me up.
Since we’re talking about Timothy Myers SR, let’s just all be thankful the perp wasn’t a Muslim.
If he was then Glenn Beck would be painting some form of Al Qaeda plot on his stupid blackboard.
psssssst…the race card is consistently Tim’s “go-to” assumption.
Tim Sr. AND Jr. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
Seems to me that that sort of heated rhetoric/ opinion could cause someone to be shot?
I forget what I posted before, but this “Harvard” student went to the police who were still at the scene and said he did it. His description matched what witnesses had seen. This is what we call probable cause to detain an individual. The fact he matches the description AND he says he did it is enough to arrest him and question him.
Just because you are arrested does not mean you get booked. Many people confuse that. Yes, he did get booked in this case, but the District Attorney for that area declined the case saying there wasn’t enough evidence to support a filing.
And yes, where did the black thing come into this. Did it say he was black in any articles?
Plus, the Sheriff’s website still has his booking information and it lists him as “O” for other. A black person will always be booked with a “B” for black.
Thomas:
I am confused. He “confessed” at the scene, eyewitnesses identified him, and the DA still declined to prosecute? That makes NO sense!
There were no eyewitnesses that identified him. Eyewitnesses described a suspect and officers arrested him based off his statement and description by eyewitnesses. No witnessess ever looked at him after his arrest.
And, just because someone says they did something, you still have to prove it. In this case, the police could not prove it and therefore the DA will reject the case or send it out for further investigation.
“Scientists say a 100 or 250 year Super Storm could someday slam California with up to 40 days of non-stop rain”
Anyone remember the 40+ days of rain in Jan/Feb 1969?
Nope, I was -7.
I remember that winter. It wasn’t quite 40 days straight, but it sure seemed like. I found some interesting information on that rain season: http://www.water.ca.gov/waterdatalibrary/docs/historic/…/Bulletin_69__1969.pdf

Sorry, that is all that shows up. This is what I got on Google: [PDF]

Hopefully this doesnt happen the same time as the Big Earthquake or coincide the 12-12-12 aka End of the World. It would suck to be wet while dying.
Not unless one were to be… OH NEVERMIND.
Hahaha
I remember. Not fun and had lots of bad hair days!
I vaguely remember that 69 rainstorm. I was 4 but spent my days at a preschool in Monterey Park and we couldn’t go outside to play. More importantly, my father opened his own car lot in Pomona at the beginning of that month and lost his a** on his investment because of the rain.
Don’t worry, if the rain didn’t get him, OPENING A CAR LOT IN POMONA would have.
Random walk: Whatever happened to Pomona? It coulda been a contenda. The answer, if you seek it, lies here.
Okay, I can’t let this go!
As Timothy Myers Sr indicates: This 21 y/o matched a description; he went back to the scene of the crime; he confessed to police, and yet the D.A. feels there’s not enough evidence?
It appears that some may be privy to information regarding this. It would be nice to hear something from someone about this case who can shed some light into the events of that evening…ie; where was this ‘suspect’ when this hit-and-run occured; what was his alibi? where was the ‘suspect’ going when he went back to the scene of the crime and confessed?
I can only imagine how the family of the victim must feel knowing that perhaps a ‘suspect’ was apprehended, after all that evidence, only to be let go….:/ I for one would like to see justice served in this case!
Ivogel,
Let’s say you went back to the scene for whatever reason, you matched the description, and you said you did it. Should you be tried? NO. Eyewitnesses did not identify Diamond. Eyewitnesses described a suspect to police. Hours later, after all these eyewitnesses left, Diamond came and said he did it. He was arrested. His statements were not consistent with what happened. The District Attorney declined to file the case because there was not enough evidence to support the case. The detectives investigating this case searched his residence, did extensive DMV checks on him and his family regarding the car and found no car at his residence or anyone similar that has ever been registered to him or his family. On top of that, detectives discovered that he had alibis that were true. He wasn’t even near the scene when it happened. Only God and Diamond knows why he said he did it. Maybe he is protecting someone. Maybe someday we will find out. I am trying to give what information I can.
Thanks for the information you have provided, Thomas.
So , the young man could be found guilty of aiding and abetting, when all is said and done. If the young man is not involved in anyway, then perhaps he should seek some mental health care for making such a ridiculous lie that would cause him to be arrested.
If he knows who did this, I hope he gives them up. If he lied for some outrageous reason, then I hope the detectives on the case continue to persue it. In the article the detective interviewed inidicated that he felt the young man that they arrested, IS the one who commited this crime. I just hope they are not spending their time trying to prove that feeling, and stop persuing other avenues.
Well the detective that was interviewed by The Signal gave some wrong information. For instance, there is a public information bulletin that was published stating what car they are looking for. They have pictures of a similar car on the bulletin. This detective probably wasn’t supposed to be interviewed and/or gave bad information to The Signal. That is why the LAPD has a public information office and usually, but not always, interviews are done by a Lieutenant or above.
