Whether you are new to the SCV Republican scene or are a grizzled veteran of anti-tax and pro-marriage rallies, my hope is you’ll find this SCV Republican Club Guide (Mid-2011 Edition) helpful, informative, and supportive of your conservative advocacy efforts.
Here in the SCV in 2011, you and your fellow Republicans may find yourselves adrift and restless among a plethora of local Republican clubs. Naturally, you have questions such as:
Which club offers traditional Orthodox Conservatism, as defined by Goldwater, Reagan, the Heritage Foundation and Cato Institute?
Which one focuses the most on the problems associated with The Others, be they gays, Mexicans, liberals, Hollyweird, or Muslamics?
Which one is most aggressively militant in its foreign policy outlook?
Which club offers you the best options for advancing in your nascent public-service career in conservative politics?
Which one offers the best food, or meets at an establishment that has food?
And finally, which club has as its focus the blurring of the line between Church and State?

Tim, if you wet them that easily, you need to buy stock in a dry cleaner.
I belonged to and contributed to various organizations for about 15 years when I realized that it just wasn’t fun anymore. Some of the so-called leaders of the SCV Congress of Republicans made a laughingstock of that organization. Anyone remember the newsletters with Republican spelled wrong? Or their constant pushing of male candidates when it was the women who did all the work?
I don’t like the fools on the left, those on the right, or those proclaiming to be in the middle. I vote for the person running against those I really dislike no matter the party.
Yeah, I’m with ya Jane. It is sad but true.
I got a call on Sunday from a guy saying he was taking a poll and asked me if I approve of Obama, and his plan to take away guns. Full disclosure; I’m a registered Republican so I am probably on some rally list.
I told the caller, that I approve of Obama overall, but I don’t worship him. Yeah, he’s made some whopper mistakes (what President hasn’t?) but his overall plan for the economy is sound. They caller was incredulous, “what? You’re kidding!, you’re against gun rights?” I told him I was for gun rights, and in fact own a gun. So, again, he said; “so, you DON’T approve of Obama”. I told him that I did approve, and the two were not mutually exclusive. I also noted that this was not in fact a poll, but a lecture.
He went on to say that Obama was going to take our guns away. After I asked for proof, all he could give me was hyperbole and talking points. Nothing tangible. So, I reminded him that the President does not have power to amend the Constitution ‘at will’ and that I felt his phone call was offensive and hung up.
I’m assuming the call came from the local Republican office. Are there no free thinkers left?
Jeff neglected the real GOP power source in this valley where all candidates gravitate before running over to the Lincoln Club for the food at Valencia Country Club, The Santa Clarita Republican Women Federated. Petz is an auxiliary member.
…and here I thought it was at King Chef. But then again, the place has closed so I guess they could be seeking out better food.
You missed numerous opportunities. The real conservatives favor Hometown Buffet now- with a senior discount.
Well, I guess that’s a step up but you are getting dangerously close to Valencia territory!!
Come on Petz, we have gone to a much better place for lunch than the crapola they serve at Hometown.
