Petz meets the #Occupy Crowd

Dirty hippies belong in Newhall, don’t you know?

At first I was outraged at Petz’ outrage. But then I thought to myself, would I be welcoming if a bunch of elderly Santa Claritan Tea Party malcontents -waving signs about keeping the government’s hands out of Medicare and gun rights- showed up to protest on Lyons Avenue?

Well, I doubt that would happen. We’ve already established that most people in the SCV view anything south of Lyons as unsafe and brown, so I bet the Tea Party people would stay away from “gang infested Newhall” and go back to their old haunt in front of safe City Hall.

But if they did, I’d probably welcome them. And point. And snicker a little bit.

That said, I can see Petz’ point of view. If you value a safe, sleepy and ultra-boring place  -where nothing interesting happens…ever- then Saugus is where you want to be. And so I’d like to extend an invitation to the #Occupy Santa Clarita crowd to leave Petz and his Saugus neighbors alone and head on down to Hart Park or Newhall Park and we’ll #Occupy Newhall!

My “Spidey Senses” were tingling when I saw that Petz liked the Occupy Santa Clarita Facebook page.

This unfortunately points out Petz’ restrictive, marginalized point of view regarding “freedom for some.” “Some” being those who agree with Petz and Petz only.

Yes, you unwashed, uncouth malcontent RABBLE! Stay out of sleepy, whitebread Saugus. Save that park for the dogs…and crappy cover bands who play there!

Petz is beginning to sound like that crotchety old man who lives at the end of the street who constantly yells at kids to “Get off my lawn!”

Petz needs a reality check. Some of those 99% pissed off “malcontents” may be some of his own neighbors or family members. Maybe if kids saw that not everybody is satisfied with the way things are in their sanitized bubble of a city, they may ask the hard questions like: “Why?”

Petz may take advantage of the situation to bring public awareness to the health effects of artificial lighting.

This encapsulates all that I like about Petz, and all the ways he irks me. Pure Petzold. Thanks for the chuckle.

Why is being a upper middleclass family a target? We are not rich. We just went to college and got jobs like we we were expected to do. We pay our bills & don’t get in debt. We live modestly with kid in college & save for retirement. We have a great gardener & housekeeper & pool guy who we pay well & respect. Each has been with us for 10+ years. Take us down & they will suffer too. Please leave us alone.

Valencia mom, do you realize that you are part of the 99% that should be angry right now? If you make less than $1 million/year and are arguing for no taxes on the rich, then you’ve been duped.

Or perhaps, she is just a rational person. But then I am sure by the standards of the current Administration, she is rich.

      Valencia Mom-

What about those of us who did exactly everything you did the exact way you did it, and yet, we’re about 25 years younger, and are left holding the bag? Why did the “ME” generation of the 80s get to enjoy the spoils of profitability and now their children work just as hard, if not harder, to enjoy LESS prosperity.

This is about the fact that the Upper Middle Class may be a dying breed. There will be upper, there will be lower. Nothing left in the middle because the middle can’t keep up.

Perez is jealous and slightly offended that Petz doesn’t engage him in similarly thoughtful dialogue and only gets called an “ass.”

    • Mr Perez says:

Food trucks find a way to be every event that exists in So Cal. Just waiting for the day when they start setting up shop uninvited at funerals, kinda like Westboro.

Oh Petz, I love you when you are ornery. Of course I will get extra glee knowing that you are up in the hills behind your cross in your camouflage observing the rabble that has intruded on your beige solitude.

I always enjoy a healthy civil picket-line and often see them near my house in Valencia where the grass is green, the roads are paved with milk and honey, and the speech is free. So come on down Petz with your tri-corner hat, but leave the chain-saw at home.

  18. Your Web Guru says:

The irony of this whole post and thread is that, without Petz’ interference, this would probably be a non-story. The Facebook page itself boasts only 163 “likes” (Petz included). Not to mention that what’s going on Sunday is a preliminary meeting to TRY and organize a future rally. I’m guessing it will be so small that Petz will need his astronomy telescope to pick it out.
