- David T.'s Review of Pei Wei Asian Diner - Valencia (4/5) on Yelp July 29, 2010I went here for the very first time today and I was impressed. You get a lot of food for what you pay, and it tasted good. They even have the menu on a display screen before the line, which helps… […]

- Bernadet G.'s Review of Thai Dishes - Valencia (2/5) on Yelp July 29, 2010I don't understand the few rave reviews about this place! I really don't. I give the soup major credit, it was spicy and delicious! Sadly everything else wasn't that great. The beef was lacking in… […]
- Judi J.'s Review of Athena's Rotisserie & Pizzaria - Canyon Cntry (3/5) on Yelp July 29, 2010Our family has gone to Athena's off and on since it was a Numero Uno Pizzeria back in the late 80s/early 90s. When it became Athena's we still came on occasion for deep dish pizza and a gyro. After… […]
- carolina a.'s Review of Valencia Town Center - Valencia (2/5) on Yelp July 29, 2010This mall makes me feel sad. First, because of vacancies in the general mall area and the food court, the place feels run-down. Second, the upstairs play area is sad. Recently, it was closed for a… […]
- Rodney S.'s Review of Purdy Cool AC and Heating - Santa Clarita (5/5) on Yelp July 29, 2010I had several AC repair companies visit my home to repair a leak from my AC. One company stated that there was nothing wrong with the unit and I needed a plumber, another stated that it was the coil… […]
- Christina L.'s Review of Lady Di's Cookies - Valencia (5/5) on Yelp July 29, 2010Since I was in the area, which I'm RARELY in the area, I told myself "I have to try a place so I can Yelp it." So, I decided why not search for some...CUPCAKES! When I walked in the store, I felt… […]
- Charles X.'s Review of Edwards Valencia Stadium 12 - Valencia (3/5) on Yelp July 29, 2010This theater is okay but THE 'GIANT SCREEN' SUCKS! You pay more for a 'giant screen' but it was worse than a regular screen! While it looked taller- it didn't seem ANY wider than a regular screen and… […]

The “Unknown Blogger” behind the TeaPartySCV.com site that posted that racial joke last week insists he’s unaffiliated with other Tea Partiers in the SCV and that he only posts for himself. Apparently someone got to him and doesn’t want the … Continue reading

On Democracy and City Hall
Cronyism. Undemocratic. Just some of the words that come to mind as I think of the City Council’s post-election behavior in 2010. First they found a solution in search of a problem: they removed term limits for appointed commissioners. Then … Continue reading

Farm dinner in Ojai … and one day, maybe, SCV
There is a growing craze that is a twist on a traditional restaurant dinner. Known as a “farm dinner,” the concept is a modern take on an old idea: eating food that was grown right there on the ground on which you’re standing, served by the hands that tended the soil, prepared the dish or made the wine.

OITF, founded by noted artist and Renassiance man Jim Denevan, has grown from a few dinners per year to nearly 100 in the US. They’ve even expanded into Europe.
It’s a thoroughly unique experience. Continue reading
