Petz took Lucy up to the new dog park and was extremely disappointed by how small it is.  This area appears to be much smaller than the one at Central Park which is not supposed to be permanaent.  The expectation was for so much more.

The area for small dogs is smaller than two backyards.  Looks like a putting area.

At least the grass is green and the No Smoking signs are up.  Parking (street only inless you walk from the aquatics center) does not seem adequate and Petz expects there to be problems.

There must have been a problem w the decimal back when  because yesterday's Signal article said .5 acres.

Why are we spending tax dollars for your mutt when its owner doesn't want to spend tax dollars on humans for health care?

Petz spends thousands on health care per year for his family and others, including both sides of medicaid and property taxes that fund "golden plans" for Hart and Saugus school district employees.

Howver, you do ask a good question about the allocation of government resource

Now you're looking for the secret. But you won't find it because of course, you're not really looking. You don't really want to work it out. You want to be fooled.

On Friday, December 14, 2007, the City of Santa Clarita unleashed its first off-leash dog park, called Central Bark. The 1.3 acre doggie park is located near the back of Central Park, located at 27150 Bouquet Canyon Road, adjacent to the multi-use fields. The new off-leash dog park has a designated area for small dogs and a separate area for larger dogs.

The off-leash dog park came about in response to hundreds of requests received over the years by the City from area dog-lovers. This new off-leash dog park is to be an interim dog park site until the City's permanent dog park is constructed at the Santa Clarita Sports Complex. The City plans to have the permanent park opened in late 2009.

Petz wants to know whether there are plans to close or dismantle the dog park at Central Park.  As he understands it, this area is leased from CLWA.

A highly placed individual within the city government of Santa Clarita has assured Petz that negotiations are taking place to allow Central Bark to remain an integral part of Central Park.

Negotiations?

Let them try to close Central Bark. The people will storm City Hall with their dogs and cow the council into submission.

Now we need a dog park in Newhall or Valencia. Tired of the Saugus and Canyon Country getting all the quality amenities in this place

There is a dog park in Newhall/Valencia.  It's called the wash.  Some dogs like it some much, they stay long-term.

A showdown on council steps?  Sounds like a cops vs dogs situation.  SCV's finest  are 3-0 in recent memory.

The wash is the best for a runner like mine.  Lots of birds and rabbits to chase.  . . The dog chases, not me.  . . Well I chase after the dog.
