Just heard that Los Angeles won't provide a victory parade for their win, but that the team orginization will pick up the cost estimated to be around two million dollars. Isn't that sort of like giving yourself a party.

I agree it shouldn't be on the backs of the taxpayers, but surely all those who made money off the team should toss in some money.

Hasn't the city made tons of tax money off of the team? Of course, at this time I think that most financial expenditures for parades, parties, celebrations which are not self-funding should be cut till they can be afforded.  If I were the Lakers I'd say that if we're going to pay for it we don't want to see any poli-hacks skulking up to the podium to get some free PR from the team's dime.

I heard there won't be a podium of any sort, just a parade.  Things might have changed, though.

If you are heading down, I recommend catching the Red Line in North Hollywood.  We just spent a day hopping from station to station, enjoying the great grub the city has to offer.  Best way to get around the areas it serves.
