What happened to my dream team? Eagles aren't getting it done.
Unrelated to their performance, I think this might be my last season as a football fan, if I make it that far. The number and severity of the brain injuries that these guys are carrying for the rest of their lives has really been sucking the joy out of it for me.

I think we're only understanding, and making the link, now. There are things we're seeing in the brains of players who die prematurely, many of them by suicide. It's really awful. I'm finding it harder and harder to celebrate the game because of it.

I don't recall hearing of this brain problem prior to football players having much safer equipment. Perhaps we should go back to leather helmets and flying wedges.

Players are now much bigger and much faster, yet their skulls aren't any tougher. Plus, ex-athletes tend not to stay in the public eye. It took some time for everyone to connect the dots.
