I wanted to go to a movie during Thanksgiving weekend, but unfortunately it seems like both theaters in the SCV only want to cater to children's movies. They have most of these kids movies showing in one or more theaters all the time. If you want an adult movie (not Twilight themed) you have to go to Valencia and hope you can find an empty seat. Why Puss in Boots, Jack & Jill, Happy Feet II, etc. need to be in so many theaters and J. Edgar is in one ? ? ? So disappointing to live in a community that practically ignores the adult community here.

I figured that out within 10 days of living out here. I call it strollerville at times. Thankfully, the place is improving with some adult places but I don't want to mention them or Frank Ferry will have them closed down.

Unless it's a real special movie or one that absolutely needs to be seen on the super big screen I just wait for it to come on HBO, Showtime etc.
Why deal with the hassles such as parking, outrageous food and ticket costs and other moviegoers that can't keep their yaps shut?
I'd rather just have it on my big screen with surround sound, pop my own corn, have my own beverages and be able to pause it at any time to go to the bathroom without being afraid of missing something important.
Oh, Mrs. FC still takes the kidlets to the movies.

J Edgar was a great movie on the big screen. Should be Oscar nominated , but will probably fall short due to the left wing bias of Hollywood.

I agree that J Edgar was an excellent movie, Petz2. However, what does politics have to do with a Oscar worthy picture? Wonder if Mr.Eastwood feels the same as you, considering that both Million Dollar Baby and Unforgiven got him statues for Best Director.

Restrepo was by far the best documentary last year and did not win. That proves Hollywood bias against the troops.

Seriously?
Because Restrepo did not receive an Oscar, Hollywood is against our men and women serving, and sacrificing their lives? Do you really feel this way or are you just trying to be controversial?
Sebastian Junger, who wrote WAR and wrote/co-directed Restrepo with photographer Tim Hetherington, RIP, is a self proclaimed liberal pacifist.
Neither men had a political stand when filming this documentary. Their goal was to show the world first hand what it was like to be in combat. A real view; not a 'hollywood' movie.
Again I agree with you, Restrepo was also a great film, however nothing is 'proved' because it didn't win.

United 93 was a great film that depicted in a dramatic form the Islamist hatred for America. The chickens in Hollywood did not want to be a target, so they ignored the movie.

Drove up to Lancaster yesterday and went to the new Laemmle (sp?) on Lancaster Blvd. Unbelievable - wide leather seats with foot rests, swivel out trays for beverages, lots of indy films to choose from - and across the street is an amazing wine bar that even has rooftop patio seating with firepit. Also, if you are a senior and go on Weds. the price at the theater is only $4.50 Regal Cinemas here suck and driving to Lancaster is well worth the drive ! ! LD

I saw the movie and while it was interesting, I've seen similar movie of the week shows on TV. Good quality, but not up to snuff for an award just because it emulates your hatred for Islam.
