 I'm so excited. For the first time ever, someone with an iPhone visited SCVTalk.com. Someone hip and cool enough to have Time's "Invention of the Year" cared enough about my website to visit it!
Hopefully that old curmudgeon from the North Pole will deliver one to me for Christmas so I can see for myself how it looks on the iPhone.

Sorry it's been so slow around here in the last few weeks. I like to try to post at least two entries a day; the Daily Brief and something else, but with the stress of the holidays, I'm sitting on a few stories, which, despite my hopes and incantations, won't write themselves.

| The skies over Santa Clarita |
 Do you ever just stare at the sky in amazement? In the summer, towering thunderheads dominate the eastern SCV skies, while in the winter and spring, Santa Clarita usually gets a fair share of spectacular golden sunsets thanks to odd cloud cover.
Well what it look like if you could take over 100 time-lapse sequences pulled from over 250 hours of video footage of the skies over Santa Clarita, and mix it all together with some chilled, ambient beats? An SCV resident and YouTuber did just that and the results are incredible.

| City gives dogs a Christmas present of their own |
|
WHEREAS,The city of Santa Clarita is a community of humans and canines alike but different;
there was no place where God-fearing, law-abiding SClaritans could let their children dogs run free;
all canines are created equal and born without the constraints of their man-made leashes;
the cries and barks of thousands shook City Hall like the Walls of Jericho,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Santa Clarita Shall dedicate a Dog Park on December 14 where humans and canines can feel free to mingle, socialize, and play together in a safe, fenced-in environment at CENTRAL BARK, located in the back of CENTRAL PARK.

"The Geminid Meteors are usually the most satisfying of all the annual showers, even surpassing the famous Perseids of August....The Geminids perform excellently in any year, but British meteor astronomer, Alastair McBeath, has categorized 2007 as a 'great year'....That means those places from central Asia eastwards across the Pacific Ocean to Alaska are in the best position to catch the very crest of the shower, when the rates conceivably could exceed 120 per hour."
- Space.com on the Geminid Meteor shower which may be viewable from the SCV tomorrow morning.

|
He brought you horrific tales of corruption, abuse and violence in Central America. He related his own experiences evading the Nazi war machine in Europe. He opined on American corporations, presidential elections and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. He may have angered you, surprised you, or shocked you, but whatever you say about Willy Gutman, he brought a unique and international voice to the editorial pages of the Signal.
The 70 year old author and journalist retired his column in October, but sat down with Leon Worden recently to talk about his life, his writing and his plans. You can view the interview which was broadcast on SCVTV Channel 20 by clicking "Read More."
